We are with you in spirit, lifting up your parents before the throne of grace, and we appreciate your faith in the name of Lord Jesus as you seek help for your parents. It is so important to honor our mothers and fathers, as the Bible commands in Exodus 20:12, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we have the incredible privilege of approaching God's throne of grace with confidence, as Hebrews 4:16 tells us, Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need. This confidence comes solely through faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved from our sins and have access to God, as Acts 4:12 reminds us.
In regards to the health of your parents, we should remember that our bodies are subject to the effects of a fallen world, and that even believers will face physical and mental challenges. However, we can rest assured that God cares for our parents even more than we do, as we are reminded of His promise in First Peter 5:7, Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
We must also remember God's promise in Romans 8:28, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Even in the midst of health issues and signs of dementia, God can bring good from the situation.
As for the blessings of Abraham, we must be careful to understand that while believers in Jesus Christ are indeed children of Abraham through faith in the promised Messiah, the blessings promised to Abraham are primarily spiritual in nature, as Galatians 3:7-9 tells us. Know therefore that those who are of faith, the same are children of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, In you all the nations will be blessed. So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
Let us pray together for your parents:
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, asking for Your grace and mercy to be poured out on our fellow believer's parents. Lord, You promise that even our hairs are numbered, and that You care for us even more than the lilies of the field. We ask that You would uphold them in their time of need, and that You would give them a dignified life in their old age.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch on their bodies and minds, and we pray for wisdom and guidance as they navigate the challenges of health issues and signs of dementia. We also ask for blessing and favor as they seek out the best senior care, and we pray that You would go before them, making the crooked places straight and smoothing out the rough paths.
We also pray for our fellow believer, asking that You would give them strength and endurance as they care for their parents, and that You would fill them with Your wisdom and understanding.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw all involved ever closer to You, and we thank You for the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
It is in His precious name we pray. Amen.
