We understand that you're struggling with self-control, Wilann, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. Firstly, it's crucial to remember that self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
To grow in self-control, we must yield to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to work in our lives. This means being rooted in faith in Jesus, being saved by Jesus, and having ongoing fellowship with Him through prayer. Knowing that Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin and then resurrected to life, overcoming sin and death. Believing in Jesus is the only way to the Father, God.
Let's start our prayer by mentioning the name of Jesus to have access to God:
Jesus, we come before You, lifting up Wilann, who has requested prayer for self-control. We know that this is a struggle that many face, and we are also faced with plenty of temptations, as we're only human. Father, we ask You to strengthen Wilann through Your Spirit, that they may exhibit the fruit in their life. Help Wilann to be rooted and built up in Christ, established in the faith as You taught it, and overflowing with thankfulness, as instructed in Colossians 2:7.
We also ask of you Jesus to check Wilann's heart, help them to consider if they are saved by Jesus because it is only by being saved that we can grow strong in the fruit of self control.
Father we know the temptations of life are great. Including sexual temptation should Wilann be single. Wilann certainly has the human desire but help Wilann remain pure by your Word. Remain patient with their courtship and not indulge in self abuse or lust. God we pray to make a pure and innocent character in Wilann. Help Wilann keep their thoughts in line with your own thoughts and word. To the glory of God and growing in relationship with Jesus.
We encourage you, Wilann, to study and meditate on God's Word, for it is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, as mentioned in Hebrews 4:12. Memorize scriptures that will help you to stand firm in the face of temptation. Remember, God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and He will provide a way out so that you can endure it, as promised in 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Remember Wilann, it is only by believing in and being covered by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God in flesh and blood who died and resurrected three days later that we may have relationship with God.
