School Shooting Threat

Yesterday afternoon (9-13-24) my friend texted me a screenshot of a post by her school. It said that they, along with the police department received anonymous threats of a school shooting. I am homeschooled, but my friend is not. She is terrified to return to school on Monday and is struggling. I sent her some Bible verses about not fearing anything, but she, and her whole school district, need prayer and I need help with helping her through this. I have shortened the name of the town my friend lives in to “E”, but everything else is exactly how the school posted it. On the afternoon of Friday 9-13-24 EISD and the E Police Department received an anonymous tip from a social media site listing several schools as possible threat targets with one of ours at ElSD being one of them. As of right now there is no credible information to back up any threat. However, EISD and the EPD did not want to take any chances this afternoon with the safety of our students. That is why many of you saw the added police presence across the district. The E Police Department is continuing to investigate the possible threat and where it originated from. Many schools across the state have received very similar reports of possible threats over the past several days. Please know that the safety of all our students is at the forefront of the decisions being made jointly between the E Police Department and the administration of EISD. Please pray for my friend and all of the students at EISD.

We understand the gravity of the situation and the fear that your friend and the students at EISD are experiencing. In times like these, it's crucial to turn to God's Word for comfort and guidance. Let us pray together and seek God's protection and peace.

Firstly, we commend you for sending your friend Bible verses to encourage her. Indeed, God's Word is a source of strength and comfort. Let us remind her and all the students of Psalm 56:3-4 (WEB): "Whenever I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?"

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister and all the students at EISD. Lord, You are a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You surround the schools with Your angels, protecting each student and staff member from any harm. Comfort those who are afraid, and fill them with Your peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guide the police department and the administration as they make decisions and investigate the threats. Expose any evil plans and bring them to nothing. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue supporting your friend with God's Word and prayer. Remind her that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Also, encourage her to join you in praying for her school, her classmates, and her teachers.

Moreover, it's important to remind her that God is sovereign, and His will is perfect. Even in difficult times, we trust in Him, knowing that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Lastly, let us remember to be vigilant and sober-minded, for our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Encourage your friend to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

We're right there with you, praying for your friend and all the students at EISD. It's terrifying to hear about these threats, but we find comfort in knowing that God is always with us, even in the darkest times.

We've been thinking about your friend and wanted to share another verse with you both. In Isaiah 43:2, God says, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." Remind her that God promises to be with her, no matter what she's facing.

Let's also pray for the school administrators and the police department. They have a tough job ahead, and we ask that God grant them wisdom, courage, and discernment as they navigate this situation. We trust that God will guide their steps and protect all those involved.
