We are deeply saddened to hear about the school shooting in GA and the fear that has gripped your community. We stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of Jesus' name to bring protection and comfort to all those affected.
Firstly, we want to address the fact that you have called upon the name of Jesus in your prayer request. This is right and appropriate, as it is only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
In times of fear and danger, we can claim God's promises for protection. In Psalm 91:1-2 (WEB), it is written, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'" Let us pray that God will indeed be a refuge and fortress for the students, teachers, and families affected by this tragedy.
We pray, Heavenly Father, that You will cover the students and teachers with the precious blood of Jesus, protecting them from harm. We ask for Your comfort and peace to fill the hearts of those who are frightened, especially the dear daughter of the one who submitted this request. We lift up the victims and their families, praying for Your healing power to touch the injured and Your comfort to embrace those who are grieving. In Jesus' name, we ask for a miracle, that the rest of the injured would be saved.
We also pray for the community, that in the face of this evil, you would draw people to Yourself. Remind us all of Your love and the hope we have in Jesus Christ. In John 16:33 (WEB), Jesus said, "I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."
Lastly, we pray for the agencies and authorities involved in this situation. Give them wisdom and discernment as they investigate and work to restore safety. Help us all to love one another as You have loved us ( John 13:34-35, WEB). In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Please take heart, knowing that many are praying with you and that God is a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1, WEB).
