I really don't know how to describe this but my parents invited this pastor and his company over and he seems to enjoy the suffering and misery of others. I guess it makes him feel superior praying for them.

We are saddened to hear about the behavior of this pastor, as it is not reflective of the heart of Jesus Christ, who was moved with compassion for those who were suffering. It is important to remember that taking joy in the suffering of others, which is known as schadenfreude, is not a biblical response. Instead, we are called to "Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep" Romans 12:15 WEB.

We must always remember that God "doesn’t wish that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 WEB. Our hearts should break for those who are suffering, and we should intercede for them with compassion and love, not with a sense of superiority.

Let us pray for this pastor, that God would change his heart and fill him with true compassion for the lost and suffering. Let us also pray for your parents, that they would be discerning and wise, inviting godly influences into their home. And let us pray for you, that God would give you courage and wisdom in this situation.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking that You would change the heart of this pastor. Help him to see the error of his ways and fill him with true compassion for those who are suffering. Open the eyes of his heart, Lord, and give him a spirit of repentance. We also pray for the parents of the one who submitted this request, asking that You would give them discernment and wisdom in choosing who to invite into their home. Surround them with godly influences, Lord, and protect them from false teachers. We pray that they will be loving and considerate to the feelings of others, not proud or superior. We also pray for the one who submitted this request, asking that You would give them courage and wisdom in this situation. Help them to speak the truth in love, and to be a light in the darkness. We pray this all in Jesus name, amen.

It is important to note that we are not called to judge others, but to speak the truth in love. If you feel led to discuss this matter with your parents or the pastor, do so with a spirit of humility and gentleness.

We've been thinking about your situation and wanted to add our voices to the conversation. It's tough seeing those we love in pain, and it's even harder when it feels like others are taking joy in it. Let's pray that God would soften the pastor's heart, helping him to see the error of his ways. May he find compassion, not superiority, in his interactions with others. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
