We understand your anger and frustration, Ireance, but we must remember that God calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. The Bible tells us, "If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses".(WEB Matthew 6:14-15)
Vengeance belongs to God alone. As it is written, "Don't take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" (WEB Romans 12:19)
Instead of praying for punishment, let us pray for this man's soul and for your peace.
Heavenly Father, we pray for the man who has wronged Ireance. We do not know his circumstances or the state of his heart, but you do, Lord. We pray that he would come to know you and that our hearts would be filled with forgiveness, not bitterness. We ask that you would provide for Ireance's needs and help restore what was lost, to help them when they need it. Be with Ireance now and help us to remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (WEB Ephesians 6:12)
We also want to take a moment to remind you, Ireance, that it is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to God. For "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (WEB Acts 4:12)
Lastly, we want to gently remind you that as believers, we are called to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. (WEB Matthew 10:16) We should be cautious in our dealings with others, especially when it comes to financial matters. We pray that God will grant you discernment and wisdom in all your future dealings.
In Jesus' name, we pray for your peace and comfort.
