We rejoice in the truth presented in Psalm 127:3-5, that children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. We stand with you in prayer, trusting in God's divine plan for families and marriages.
Firstly, we address the importance of trusting God with our family planning. As it is written in Psalm 37:5 WEB, Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this. We need to always be seeking God's will in our lives and commit to Him. We need to also trust that His plan is perfect and that He knows what He is doing. This applies to family planning and having children as well. We need to remember that God knows the plans that He has for us. Plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Plans to give us a hope and a future.
However, we must also address the delicate matter of contraception. While the Bible does not explicitly mention contraception, it does speak about children being a blessing and a reward. We must be cautious not to reject God's blessings based on our own fears or inconveniences. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. It is important that we seek God's guidance in all our decisions, including family planning, and trust that He will direct our paths.
It is also important to mention that even Jesus welcomed children and encouraged us to become like them to enter the kingdom of heaven. We can read this in Mark 10:14-15 WEB, But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these. Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.
If you are already married, Psalm 128:3-4 WEB, is a beautiful promise to claim, Your wife will be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house; your children like olive plants, around your table. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears Yahweh. It is important that we see children as a blessing and something to rejoice over. They are not a burden or a bother.
There is also a promise in the scriptures for the wife of the man that fears the Lord. Psalm 128:3 WEB, states Your wife will be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house. It is important that we believe this promise and ask God for a fruitful wife that can be a blessing to her husband and bear him children.
If you are about to marry, we pray for God's will to be done in your lives and marriage. We pray for God's blessings and heritage to fill your quiver. We pray that your marriage will be fruitful and that children will fill your house.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up all married couples and those preparing for marriage who are trusting in You for children. We pray that You will bless them with a full quiver, and that their homes will be filled with the joyous sounds of children. We ask that You will guide them and provide for them as they grow their families.
We also pray for those struggling with trust, that You will reassure them of Your sovereignty and love. Help them to see children as a blessing and a reward. Help them to see that in the house of the righteous is a great treasure. Help them to see that children are that treasure.
Help us all to become as little children that we may enter into the kingdom of heaven.
We ask this in Jesus Name.
