SAY "MERRY CHRISTMAS" EVERY DAY!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Are you getting your heart and home ready to celebrate your Lord’s birthday? Let me suggest you start reading in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the different Christmas stories about the details of the birth of Jesus Christ. In fact, if you are a parent or grandparent, start reading the different sections in the Bible throughout the month so your children of all ages can truly understand the true meaning of Christmas to everyone.
Since this is the beginning of December I would like to challenge you to do something that is easy to do, but you will not hear many people say two special words, "Merry Christmas." How many times do you go to many different places or be on the telephone and someone will say to you, “Happy Holidays.†Have you started to say "Merry Christmas" to others yet? Did you get a smile? Didn't you feel good that you were bold and were willing to speak the words that the world is trying to eliminate? The real reason for Christmas is to celebrate our Lord's birthday!
"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.†Luke 2:11-14
What does "Merry Christmas" mean to you personally? How often do you hear so many people say the words "Happy Holidays" as you buy groceries or gifts? When you talk to someone on the telephone, you could say "Merry Christmas" instead of a goodbye. I am praying that you and your loved ones will start preparing your hearts and your home for a very "Merry Christmas" regardless of your circumstances this year. Every Christmas without Bob will be different for me, but my children and grandchildren need to see me worshipping and praising the Lord in all things. The Lord is my husband. I will be saying "Merry Christmas" as often as I can. My prayer for you is to look forward to being with the Lord this month and loved ones, your church family, and others during the Christmas holidays. Do not allow the enemy to steal your joy this Christmas!
Will you allow the Holy Spirit to touch your heart for you to seek peace, joy and love through the whole month of December? I am not saying it will be easy to do, but worth striving to seek and share God’s amazing love and peace with others, the true meaning of Christmas. Ask the Lord how He wants you to radiate His light of love to others this Christmas.
I like making acrostics. So here is one for you to think or ponder on:
M - Marriage was created and ordained by God. It is a covenant between you, your spouse and God.
E - Jesus Christ was born to save the lost and give them eternal life.
R - Your Lord wants to restore, rebuild and resurrect your hurting or dead marriage for God to get all the glory, honor and praise.
R - Let God become your refuge, your rock and righteousness who will rescue your beloved spouse from the enemy’s camp.
Y - You cannot change your spouse's heart, but God can.
C - Christ was born and died on the cross at Calvary for you, your spouse and your family's sins.
H - The Holy Spirit wants to be your Comforter, Counselor, Provider and Friend every day of your life and especially now.
R - Resist the enemy. Resist giving up on your husband or wife as you stand with God for marriage restoration.
I - Ignore all the tricks, schemes and circumstances that come from the enemy, Satan. Keep your eyes on the Lord only.
S - Stand firm on the promises of God. He will never fail you!
T - Put all your trust in the Lord for your life and marriage. His timetable will be perfect!
M - When you married your husband or wife, remember your wedding vows. You are no longer two, but one-flesh with a covenant.
A - God can deliver your spouse from anger, adultery, alcohol or any other sins of the flesh which can destroy your marriage. I pray for the Lord to touch and transform you and your spouse's heart completely.
S - Believe in the power of scriptures, God's Holy Word. Start reading and memorizing God's Word to change you and transform your spouse's hardened heart.
We are praying that the next 21 days you will seek the Lord praying and fasting for your beloved spouse, all prodigal spouses and children. Lord, may they all be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's wooing. Let’s pray that every prodigal will cry out in repentance to the Lord asking Him to rescue them quickly and set them free from the prison of darkness. Let's start expecting the Lord to do many miracles in your family's life this whole month. Now start thanking the Lord every day for what He is doing on the other side of your mountain.
A Prayer For You -
"Lord, forgive me of all my sins and my failures in our marriage. I have learned because of our marriage problems how I had my own personal life and marriage upside down. I praise You Lord for giving me hope and direction in our dead marriage. I thank You Lord for my personal relationship with You as my Savior and Lord of my life. Please use our mistakes in our marriage to help other people, family and friends by sharing the importance and sanctity of marriage. Lord, continue to teach me what I need to learn to become the husband or wife you want me to be. Help me to never give up on my beloved spouse that I love so much, who is hurting me, our children and others in different ways right now.
"Lord, come and be my spouse and the other parent in our home during the next four weeks of the Christmas season. Guide my every step. I hurt for our family and the many other families who are going through Christmas without having both parents together. I am still praying and believing for a Christmas miracle. I am believing for a mighty harvest of souls, hearts and lives to be touched and transformed during the Christmas holidays as nothing is impossible with You. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen."
God bless,
