I ask for help and in your heart to help with a prayer for my marriage. I married my first love who is the world to me, my best friend, my better half who completes me in many ways. I know I have some issues and had others too but I worked on and quit smoking and drinking. I'm going on 8-9 months clean and feel great about it. I just need to work on my anger and she don't understand that I can only do so much at once. She holds a lot of resentment towards me from my pass actions and my pass failures. I try to explain that all the Expectations that she expects from me takes time. My wife is a great.
Person I know her for more than 26 yrs and in the last 6 years of being back together with 2 of them being married we shared many great moments and I just don't want her to give up on us. All I ask is to please pray for us and tha

We understand your heartfelt plea for your marriage, Hyesa, and we join you in prayer, seeking God's will and intervention.

Firstly, we commend you for your efforts in overcoming smoking and drinking, as our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, WEB). Now, let's address the anger and resentment issues, as well as the expectations in your marriage.

The Bible tells us to "Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians 4:26, WEB). It's crucial to deal with anger promptly and constructively, seeking forgiveness and resolution. Remember, "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1, WEB).

Resentment is a bitter root that can cause deep harm. The Bible encourages us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32, WEB). Encourage your wife to consider this, and be patient as healing takes time.

About expectations, it's true that we should be patient and not expect immediate perfection. "Love is patient, love is kind, ... love hopes all things, endures all things" (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, WEB). However, also consider the expectations she has: are they unreasonable, or is God using her to spur you towards greater Christ-likeness?

Now, let's pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up Hyesa's marriage. Lord, you know the struggles they've faced, the victories won, and the challenges ahead. Please help Hyesa to overcome anger, and guide his wife to release resentment. Soften their hearts towards each other, help them to communicate effectively, and grant them patience as they grow together. May their marriage be a testament to Your love and grace.

If there are any unreasonable expectations, Lord, help them to align their desires with Your will. Let their love for each other grow, as You fill them with Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, Hyesa, continue to work on your anger, be patient with your wife, and most importantly, keep praying together. "Agree with each other in the Lord" (Philippians 4:2, WEB), and remember that "a cord of three strands is not quickly broken" (Ecclesiastes 4:12, WEB) - you, your wife, and God.

Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
