We are truly blessed to join you in prayer, Lealand, as you seek a deeper relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It is beautiful to see your desire to let go and trust in Jesus. First you need to believe, meaning that God's record concerning his Son is true: that Jesus Christ is God in a human body that died for your sins. Jesus says I am the way, the truth and the life and nobody comes to God except through faith in me (John 14.6 WEB). Nobody is perfect, and we all fall short because of our sins.
First, let's address your feeling that you need to clean yourself up before coming to Jesus. The Bible tells us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 WEB). It is not by our own efforts that we are saved, but by grace through faith, not by ourselves; it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB). Jesus is the one who cleanses us from all unrighteousness through his blood (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Lealand. Thank you, Lord, for drawing Lealand to yourself and for the work you are doing in his life. Lord, help Lealand to let go, to put down his guard, and to trust fully in your love and grace as a substitute for his sin. Help Lealand to see that salvation and transformation come by faith and trust in Jesus, not in his efforts to clean himself up. Cleanse his heart and make him new again. Grant him the gift of faith by the power of the Holy Spirit. And help Lealand to receive and surrender in Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Father, please reveal to him the forgiveness of his sins through Christ's work on the cross. Let it be by faith that he receives this gracious and undeserved gift of salvation by the sacrifice of Jesus. Lealand, proclaim your trust in Jesus. Call on His name and know that your sins are forgiven you. You are now a Christian. No one can take this away.
Lealand, we encourage you to spend time in God's Word, the Bible, getting to know Jesus more intimately and to renew your mind with his truth, and expect to see God do great things. Continue to surrender to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to guide you in your faithful walk and life with Christ.
