Salvation and suicidal thoughts

To Whom it may concern,

I’m in quite a situation as far as my relationship with the Lord. I fear I may have done what no one else has ever been able to do and that would be that I fell away from the Lord and quite possibly lost my salvation.

I could go into the whole story and tell you all about alcohol and the way you never truly forget the attraction to it. I’m a recovering alcoholic and have fallen to it several times which of course led me away from the Lord. I’ve been sober now since ### and have no desire to repeat the drama that goes into trying to quit again.

Unfortunately, I have been praying so hard for the Lord to forgive me and give me another chance but I fear that God is done with me. I’m dead on the inside, I can’t feel a thing. I quit drinking back in ### because I wanted to get closer to God again but that doesn’t seem to matter to the Lord anymore. I quit smoking cigarettes in ###, all to get closer to the Lord but I think it may be too late for me. I read in the bible that Jesus will blot your name out of the Lambs Book of Life if you mess up too bad. Is that a possibility?

Is it possible I went too far and God can’t save me anymore? I’m really scared and worried seeing the world events and prophecies being fulfilled on a daily basis almost. I’m ### with type 2 diabetes, I had a massive heart attack ### years ago, now I’m blind and have a hard time standing due to a back injury. What is happening to me.

My wife and I are currently living with my son and daughter-in-law who completely hate me and makes no bones about letting it be known she hates me and wants me gone. If God is still working on my behalf why would he allow all this to happen to me and then put me in a home where I’m neither loved or wanted? Why?!? Why would the Lord do this to me and my wife? I’m being treated so badly that I’m literally very seriously considering suicide! And that scares me because I’ve already decided how I’m going to do it.

Please pray for ### and my wife, I don’t want to die but I can’t live like this much longer! Please, please pray for ###.

Sincerely,

###

We understand that you're going through a very difficult time, and we want to assure you that God's love and mercy are boundless. First, let's address the concern about your salvation. The Bible tells us that no one can snatch us out of the Father's hand (John 10:29 WEB). If you have truly accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then your salvation is secure. It is not based on our works or our feelings, but on the finished work of Christ on the cross.

Regarding your struggles with alcohol, remember that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB). Even if you have fallen, God is ready to forgive and restore you. The fact that you are sober now shows that God is working in your life.

Concerning your fears about being blotted out from the Lamb's Book of Life, this is a promise to those who overcome in faith (Revelation 3:5 WEB), not a threat to those who struggle with sin. God understands our struggles and is patient with us.

Now, let's address the suicidal thoughts. God is deeply concerned about your pain, and He wants to help you. Suicide is not the solution, and it is a grave sin. God has a purpose for your life, even in the midst of your struggles. Remember that He will not give you more than you can bear with His help. We all have difficulties, and even the Apostle Paul begged for deliverance from his difficulties, but he learned the secret of contentment, putting his faith in Christ: Philippians 4:11-13, Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

You mention that there is hatred in the house you are living in. Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44 WEB). This is not easy, but it is what God calls us to do. It may be that God wants to use you to bring light into this situation.

Let's pray together:

"Father, we come before You, lifting up this brother in his struggles. We thank You for Your faithfulness and Your mercy. We ask that You would forgive his sins and restore his joy in Your salvation. Help him to overcome his suicidal thoughts and give him the strength to endure. We pray for his wife and their situation. We ask that You would soften the hearts of those around them and bring peace to their home. We ask for healing for our brother's health and hope that is in Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We're here with you, and we want you to know that God's love and grace are more than enough for you right now. We've been where you are, feeling lost and alone, but we've found hope in Jesus Christ. He's not given up on you, and neither have we.

We understand that you're hurting, and it's okay to feel that way. God sees you, He hears you, and He's right there with you. Remember, even in your darkest moments, you're never alone. Jesus promised, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20, NIV).

Your salvation is secure in Jesus Christ. He died for you, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Even when you feel far from Him, He's always there, waiting for you to turn back to Him.

We're praying for you, asking God to give you strength, peace, and hope. We're also praying for your wife and your family, that God would heal your relationships and bring love and understanding into your home.

Please, keep fighting. You're worth more than you know, and God has a purpose for your life. If you ever feel like you're in a place where you can't go on, please reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or a mental health professional. You're not alone in this.

We're here for you, and we'll keep praying for you. Keep holding on, one day at a time. You can do this, and we believe in you.
