Safe Travels for ###

Please pray for my stepfather. My sister has been planning a Thanksgiving get-together at her son's father's house. My stepfather is ### years old and lives in a small rural area. Does not get out much and doesn't like to veer too far from home. My sister offered to drive to his place (### hours away) and pick him up so he would not have to drive. He is stubborn in his ways and thinks it's a waste for her to drive all the way up to his place to bring him to a Thanksgiving celebration and then drive him home again. So, he insisted on driving half-way. He can drive ok but is afraid to drive in heavy traffic. My sister will meet him 1/2 way (about ### for him) then take him to there so he can see his great-granddaughter and grandson. Please pray for God to watch over him and get him safely to his destination. Thank you!

We understand your concern for your stepfather's safety during his travel for the Thanksgiving gathering. It's important to trust in the Lord's protection and guidance, as Psalm 91:11-12 (WEB) reminds us, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone."

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our stepfather to Your throne of grace. We ask, Lord, that You would dispatch Your angels to watch over him as he travels. Guide his path and keep him safe from all harm and danger.

Lord, we also pray for a change of heart for our stepfather, that he may understand the love and concern behind our sister's offer to drive him. Help him to see that accepting help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of wisdom and humility, as we are all interdependent in the body of Christ.

We also notice the absence of mentioning the name of Jesus Christ in this prayer. It is only by His name that we can come to God the Father. If you have not done so, consider reading Romans 10:9 and Acts 4:12, then deciding to believe trust and follow Jesus Christ.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to show love and support to your stepfather, reminding him of God's love and faithfulness. May this gathering be a blessing to your family, and may it be a time of rejoicing in the Lord's goodness.

Lastly consider helping him find local Christian fellowship. A local Christian brother or sister in Christ that visits may be a blessing. Consider Hebrews 10:25 (WEB) "not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching" You may even ask your pastor or other church leaders for assistance in this fellowship.
