Nyfarley, we hear your concern about the challenges you face as a Seventh-day Adventist student at Makerere University, where tests and exams are scheduled on the Sabbath. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's strength and wisdom in this situation.
Let us remember the example of Daniel and his friends, who remained faithful to God despite the challenges they faced in a foreign land. They resolved not to defile themselves with the royal food and wine, and God honored their faithfulness (Daniel 1:8-9, WEB). Similarly, you should stand firm in your convictions, trusting that God will honor your obedience to His commandments.
We encourage you to speak with the university administration about your beliefs and the importance of the Sabbath in your faith. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB), "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It may be that God will use your faithfulness to bring about a change in the scheduling policy, or provide an alternative solution for you and your fellow Adventist students.
Join us in prayer:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up Nyfarley and the Adventist students at Makerere University. Lord, they are facing a challenging environment, where their faithfulness to the Sabbath is being tested. We ask that You grant them the strength and courage to stand firm in their convictions, just as Daniel and his friends did in a foreign land. Lord, we trust that You will honor their faithfulness and make a way for them, whether by changing the hearts of the administrators or providing an alternative solution. Help them to trust in You with all their hearts, and to acknowledge You in all their ways. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We also encourage you, Nyfarley, to continue to meet with other believers for fellowship and support during this time. As it is written in Hebrews 10:24-25 (WEB), "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Together, you can strengthen and encourage one another to remain faithful to God's commands.
