We understand that you're hurting and seeking justice, but as believers, we are called to a different standard. The Bible tells us, "Don't say, 'I will pay him back for the harm he has done to me;'wait for Yahweh, and he will save you." (Proverbs 20:22 WEB) and to "Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don't curse." (Romans 12:14 WEB).
Vengeance belongs to God alone. As it is written, "Don't take revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" (Romans 12:19 WEB).
Instead of seeking retribution, let's pray for those who have wronged you. Praying for them doesn't mean what they did is acceptable, but it shows a heart of obedience to God's word. Remember, Jesus said, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you," (Matthew 5:44 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up the one who has been wronged. We ask that you will heal their heart, and help them to forgive as you have forgiven us. We pray for those who have done wrong, that you would convict their hearts, lead them to repentance, and draw them to yourself for salvation. We ask for justice, but we leave vengeance in your hands, trusting that you will do what is right and just. We surrender ourselves to the words of Jesus Christ when we pray, "forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors."
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be strong and courageous, knowing that God is with you and will deal with those who have wronged you in His perfect way and timing. Trust in Him, and He will never fail you.
