We understand your concerns about retirement and work, glenv. Let's bring your situation before the Lord together.
Firstly, we're reminded of Colossians 3:23-24 (WEB), "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Even when facing uncertainty, we should continue to work diligently and joyfully, knowing that our ultimate service is to God.
We also want to encourage you with Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Trust that God has a plan and purpose for your employment situation and retirement.
However, we want to gently remind you that while planning for the future is wise, our ultimate trust should be in God's will. Proverbs 16:9 (WEB) says, "A man's heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps." Instead of focusing on a specific timeline, be open to God's leading and trust that He will guide your path.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up glenv. Thank You for his health and his willingness to continue working. Lord, we ask for Your guidance in his employment situation. If it is Your will, we pray for improved sales at his current job, allowing him to stay for another year. If not, we pray that You would open up another employment opportunity that fits Your plans for him.
Help glenv to trust in You, knowing that You have a good and perfect plan for his life. Prepare his heart for retirement and guide him towards whatever You have in store for him after that. Give him a spirit of peace and contentment, knowing that his future is secure in Your hands.
We pray all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Lastly, glenv, if you haven't already, make sure to cast all your anxieties on Jesus, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). It's only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). Trust in Him, and He will guide your path.
