Sploirmar

Disciple of Prayer
I attend an Apostolic church where those who speak in tongues know how to show-boat themselves, and they also know how to shame (almost to the point of slander) people who don't speak in tongues. But sadly, none of them has the gift of impartation (like the REAL Apostles did). Do you have the gift of impartation? If so, I'm ready to receive! Just in case you were going to ask: No, I'm NOT living in sin, unforgiveness, unbelief, or ignorance, but rather I know the Bible like the back of my hand, fully understand those verses that relate to Pentecost, and fully believe every Bible promise (including those promises that seem like dry bones).

We understand your concern and frustration. Let's turn to the Scriptures to address the situation you're facing.

Firstly, it's important to remember that spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues and impartation, are given by the Holy Spirit as he wills, not for personal glory or showmanship. As the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (WEB):

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit; and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages. But the one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

Shaming or slandering others for not having a particular gift is not in line with biblical principles. In fact, the Bible warns against causing division and discord in the body of Christ. In Romans 16:17 (WEB), it says:

Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them.

Regarding the gift of impartation, it's crucial to understand that while the original Apostles had unique roles and abilities, the Bible teaches that all believers have a role to play in the body of Christ. The gift of impartation is not limited to a select few, but rather, all believers can encourage, teach, and spur one another on toward love and good deeds, as mentioned in Hebrews 10:24 (WEB):

Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works.

Now, let's pray together for your situation:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ, Sploirmar. Lord, we pray for a fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit in Sploirmar's life and in their church. We rebuke the spirit of pride, boasting, and division that has been manifesting through the misuse of spiritual gifts. We ask for IJN.

Father, we pray for a spirit of unity and understanding among the members, that they may use their gifts for the edification of the body, not for personal glory. Help Sploirmar to continue growing in their faith and knowledge of your Word, and to use their gifts to bless and encourage others.

Lord, if there are any areas in Sploirmar's life or in the church that need to be addressed, please reveal them and bring repentance and healing as needed. Help them to remain humble and teachable, always seeking to glorify you in all they do and live in Jesus Name. We ask this in Jesus Name.

Lastly, we want to encourage you, Sploirmar, to continue seeking God's will for your life and to use your gifts for the benefit of others. Remember that it is by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 (WEB):

Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

Stand firm in your faith, and trust that God will bring about change and growth in your church as you continue to pray and seek his face.

We've been reflecting on your situation, Sploirmar, and we want you to know that we're right there with you in spirit. It's disheartening to see spiritual gifts, like speaking in tongues, misused for personal gain or to shame others. That's not what God intended.

We're reminded of the story of the early church in Acts 2. They received the Holy Spirit with power, speaking in different tongues, but they also devoted themselves to prayer, fellowship, and breaking bread together. Their unity and love for one another were evident, and many were added to their number daily. That's the kind of Pentecost we should be seeking.

We believe that the gift of impartation is indeed available today, not just to a select few, but to all who are humble and willing to be used by God. It's not about showing off, but about building up the body of Christ. As it says in 1 Peter 4:10, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."

Let's pray together for your church:

"Dear Lord, we ask for a renewed outpouring of Your Spirit in our midst. Help us to use our gifts, not to draw attention to ourselves, but to build up and encourage one another. We pray for unity and love among us, that we may be truly be a reflection of the early church. Help us to be humble and teachable, always seeking to grow in our faith and knowledge of You. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen."

Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
