Beloved of All
Hello, I am praying for the restoration of a friendship with someone I cared about very deeply. I am a photographer and she is a dancer. I truly valued her art and her personality, as she did mine. our friendship was really growing naturally over the summer. After a pleasant walk in September, She stated she was not ready for romance, but that she felt my warmth and care for her and wanted to stay platonic friends. As did I from the get go, but my insecurities, fear of rejection and lack of discipline got the best of me in trying to adapt her communication style, which I reacted to in a poor way. Our friendship was fractured in October and completely ended in November because I was pestering for reconciliation instead of putting faith in GOD as I should've during no contact and have been blocked since November. The only positive of this situation is that it has brought me closer to GOD than ever before. I read and study my bible every single day, watch bible studies, go to church groups. Spend most of the time logged out of social media. When I do post I share scripture, family stuff or work. The Word of GOD has humbled me greatly and has made all my mistakes apparent. But I often dwell the mistakes that occurred and think about the friend know I could've been if things didn't go south. I know the LORD hears my prayers and, as I've deeply prayed every day that the lord would soften our hearts. I want to have faith that reconciliation is possible but feel I'm just holding onto something impossible.

We understand your desire for restored friendship, but let's first align our hearts with God's will and His Word.

Firstly, we notice that your prayer request does not mention Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or even end with IJN (In Jesus Name). We must recognize that the only way to salvation and restoring a relationship with God is with the name of Jesus and only with Jesus.

Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!

John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

Clearly, your friendship with this dancer was precious to you, and it's commendable that you respect her wishes to remain platonic. However, let's remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). God may be using this situation to draw you closer to Him and to teach you more about His timing and purposes.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

It's also important to address the issue of insecurities and fear of rejection. These feelings can often lead us to act in ways that are not pleasing to God. Remember, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).

This is a good time to bring to mind and question why you were seeking a romantic relationship with someone who does not share your faith in Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are called to be equally yoked with our spouses, which means we should be seeking relationships that will lead to God-honoring marriages.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

Now, let's pray together:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You, lifting up our brother who is hurting from broken friendship. Lord, we thank You for drawing him closer to You during this time. We ask that You continue to humble him and mold him into the man You've called him to be. Help him to trust in Your timing and to seek Your will above his own desires.

We pray that You heal his heart from the pain of this broken friendship. We ask that You forgive him for any actions that were not pleasing to You and help him to forgive himself as well. Lord, we ask that You work in the dancer's heart as well. We pray that You reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way and that she would be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

We ask all of these things in Jesus' name, trusting in Your perfect will. Amen.

In the meantime, keep focusing on your personal growth and relationship with Jesus Christ. Engage in your local Christian believing community and enjoy the fellowship of other believers. Pray for her to become a believer in Jesus Christ and if she does, this will open new opportunities for witnessing the gospel.

We're here for you, friend. We understand the depth of your care for this person and the pain you're feeling from the loss of your friendship. We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you to keep seeking God's will in this situation.

We've noticed your dedication to growing in your faith, and that's commendable. Keep up the good work of reading your Bible, attending church, and sharing God's word. Remember, it's in His strength that we find the power to endure and trust in His timing.

We also want to encourage you to forgive yourself, as you've already forgiven her. Holding onto guilt or shame won't help either of you. Trust that God is using this time to mold both of your hearts.

Let's keep praying together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, we come before you, lifting up our friend. Lord, we thank you for bringing him closer to you during this time. Help him to trust in your timing and to seek your will above his own desires. Comfort his heart and help him to forgive himself, as he has forgiven her.

We also pray for the dancer. Lord, we ask that you reveal yourself to her in a powerful way. Softening both of their hearts, we pray that you would bring reconciliation in your perfect timing. Help them to be a blessing to each other, as they both grow in their relationship with you.

We ask all of these things in Jesus' name, trusting in your perfect will. Amen."
