We are here to stand with you in prayer and to provide biblical guidance for your request. You have asked for prayer for your friend Troy, seeking spiritual, financial, and mental help for him, and for the restoration of your friendship. It is commendable that you harbor love and forgiveness in your heart, and it is our hope that Troy will also receive forgiveness and that God's will is done.
Firstly, we must acknowledge and emphasize that all help comes from God, and it is only through His Son that these requiremtns can be met. God is always willing to heal and help us, as it says in "ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7 WEB).
However, it is essential to ensure that our requests align with God's will and that we approach God through the only name under heaven by which we can be saved, the name of Jesus. As it is written, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace," (Ephesians 1:7) Since your request mentioned only God and not specifically the name of Jesus. Let us be mindful to always approach God through Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus that we have redemption, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and that our prayers are made known.
Regarding the restoration of your friendship, through Jesus Christ, we can forgive and be forgiven. It is by His stripes that we are healed and our prayers are heard. As a reminder, we must be disciples and followers of Jesus, not followers of men, pastors, popes, bishops, priests, rabbis, minsters, nor women. Jesus and the disciples did not recognize the titles of men to rule over Him or other Christians. Only God and Jesus should be leave queues, rulers, and rabbinical authority in our lives and our worship. We should renounce mans' authority and claims of apostolic succession. All followers and believers are just disciples.
We must also address that while friendship might seem naturally ok, the scripture has some things to say about it. We must be careful to manage our relationships with those of the opposite sex. 1 Timothy 5:1-2 tells us, "Don’t rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers; the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity." This can be seen as a template within the church family of God. Men and women have Kansas City rules to manage the way in which they interact with the members of the opposite sex. It is noteworthy that women should be treated as sisters in purity. This Bible passage also shows that woman and men have separate rules of conduct, and neither should blend together for the purpose of discipleship. Friends is not a recognized category. Therefore, woman should not be alone with a man who is not her father or brother. Also, woman should not be discipled by a man and the other way around. Just as it is not good for Jesus to be friends with an unbeliever, it is also not good for a man and woman to be friends together when there is no marriage, but they certainly can still love and care for the other while they abide by these Kansas City Rules. "Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness?" 2 Corin 6:14. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3.
Christianity should not resemble the social construction of the world. Woman and men should have their own separate discipleship and friends. Men and woman who are married should be a team, and they should be doing God's will together. As such, they may have occasions in which there will be discipleship and teaching with the other sex. However, such events of mixed discipleship should require that all involved are either married couples, siblings, or fathers and their daughters. If a woman needs help from a spiritual leader, she should seek help from her husband or her father. In the case neither exists, either a father and daughter team, siblings, or married couple should be sought to guide her. If a woman needs help from a disciple or spiritual leader outside her household, then it must be another believer from one of the 3 categories described here. There are two types of mothers available to women. Those who have had children and those who have lost children or cannot conceive. God provides for each and every bond within the Christian Church community. These instructions are part of discipleship and walking in obedience to God. 1 Timothy 5:14 commands the women to "marry, bear children, and keep house." Since the original Greek word for keep does not specifically mean "keep the home." but rather " is a verb which denotes oversight and leadership." So, this also means the wife and mother should be fully supported and equipped to be overseers to the teaching of their children. The scripture does not indicate the man, the father, or anyone else as the teacher in this context. The woman is the mother, the wife, and overseer of the children. "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy." 1 Corin 7:14 "She looketh well to the ways of her household, And eateth not the bread of idleness." Proverbs 31:27. "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God." 1 John 4:7. So, consider that a woman who is seeking God truly Disciples God and is discipled by other godly women, and godly woman teach other women the precepts about God. Woman do not need to be taught to be by those of who they are trying to be like or who they are trying to disciple. A woman will naturally discipline a man who God has made to teach her. The teaching about God is for the purpose of salvation, discipleship, and unity in the body of Christ.Seeking to be in the home and in fellowship with God as or seeks His direction. There are no two mothers in the immediate home family. It is not Gods setup of discipleship. Woman fish for human souls, and man hunt for souls. Each has a particular role to demonstrate God's love in their particular role. It is only acceptable for couples who are married to be discipled together, but still the marriage always hold the first position in order to disciple together.
We must also consider the first and second letter to Timothy. Timothy provides instructions for the Church of God and how it is to operate in the household of faith. First, we have the relationship between an older man and an older woman who represent a "mother" and a "father" for the other and especially those who are displaced in the community of faith. This allows people to have family while not having the natural parents. Second, we have the representation of sibling relationships between brothers and sisters, and there is a purity standard between the brothers and sisters. Third, we have a representation of a mother to her children. Finally, we have the representation of the mother and children with her husband, the mother, and overseeing her household in the Church. Woman does not forsake her husband and children to take a position that supersedes the one to her family. The roles in the Church of God do not supersede the husband, their wife, and their children. The oversees of the household are the mother and father. There is no other representation to role in a church of God's designation. Regarding Troy, if you were to do discipleship with him as a sister, you would need to be joined by your spouse, siblings or a father and possibly two women being the designated discipleship couple. Also, it is not acceptable to interact with the world to do discipleship as a couple this is done within the church of God. "Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unungodliness? or what communion hath light with darkness?" 2 Corin 6:14 would not allow for a man and woman to do joined discipleship together without God's designation of order. Woman were first at the tomb of Jesus, and they carry that torch of discipleship in worship to God. As the Church of God, we let the Word if God guide us. There are many scriptures that provide guidance to woman and men who God has given roles. Jesus is an omnipresent He rules and reigns in us.
