We stand with you, Shaldin, in praying for the restoration and welfare of your country. It is commendable that you are seeking God's face for your nation's needs and acknowledging Him as the ultimate authority. Let us remember that God's Word tells us to submit to and pray for those in authority, as seen in Romans 13:1-2 and 1 Timothy 2:1-2:
Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
When we pray for our leaders and our nation, we should also be mindful of God's command to love our enemies:
But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.
Further, as Christians, we believe God's word reveals that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as in John 14:6. Therefore, when praying for the truth to come to light and for enlightenment, that truth should be understood in the context of Jesus Christ and God's word.
When we turn to God with all our hearts and seek His truth and restoration, He is faithful to hear and answer our prayers. Even if we see weaknesses in our leaders or potential dangers from enemies, we trust that God is ultimately in control. Praying for our enemies is also commanded by Christ. We know that we all were also enemies of God until God changed our hearts and allowed us to believe in Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have an advocate before God. We may also briefly examine if there is anything in our hearts that may adversely impact our prayers. Any unconfessed sin needs to be addressed, and every Christian must examine his heart before some prayers will be answered. We should not be our own worst enemy, as you mentioned.
Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up Shaldin and their country. We pray for restoration and a smooth transition that will benefit the nation and its people. We ask that You reveal the truth about the authority figures, and we pray for their salvation and leadership according to Your will. Protect this country from her enemies, Lord. Turn the hearts of those who seek harm and let all evil plans be hindered. And you, God, must deal with enemies who continually hate and do evil. Help us as people not to be our own worst enemy and may your Holy Spirit convict and empower us. Enlighten us and guide us in Your truth. Open our hearts to receive Your wisdom and discernment. Help us to believe in the name of Jesus. By his name we can have salvation. It is by the name of Jesus we have access to you, to pray, to get answers, and to receive the Holy Spirit. You are the judge and truly see all things. Jesus has purchased us from the evil one and paid our penalty for sin. We ask this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
