Restoration and Reconciliation for relationship

I have been asking for prayer in the name of Jesus for my daughter and her ex boyfriend. God spoke to both of them about His plans for their future and they were both seeking Him and things were good. They were certain God brought them together and I even felt like that was true. Then they were both immature and had communication problems and things went bad. They would get back together off and on and my daughter has been holding on for hope that he is the one for her and has been very consistent and patient while he has been inconsistent and confusing towards her for the past several months. And now there is a new guy pursuing her, but she is wanting her ex to step up and choose her over being wishy washy and inconsistent. What I’m praying is that God will remind both of them what He said to them about their calling and future together regarding their relationship. And that they won’t take each other for granted. And that my daughter won’t rush God but be patient and wait for His timing and not move on with this new guy that’s pursuing her if God is telling her to wait for the ex, which is what she had been doing. And I’m praying that the ex will stop bottling up his emotions and pushing her away, but that they will both be vulnerable and honest and allow God to reconcile, redeem, and restore their relationship.

Firstly, we commend you for praying in the name of Jesus, as it is only through Him that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'").

However, we must address some biblical principles regarding relationships. The on-and-off nature of their relationship is a sign of instability, which is not God's will. God desires that we walk in consistency and light (1 John 1:7, WEB: "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.").

Moreover, it's crucial to address the issue of emotional intimacy outside of marriage. While your daughter is being patient, the ex-boyfriend's inconsistency is not a healthy dynamic. They should both be seeking God's will for their lives individually, and if it is God's will, He will bring them together in a committed, godly marriage.

Let us pray:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this situation with my daughter and her ex-boyfriend. Lord, we ask that You remind them both of Your will for their lives. If it is Your will for them to be together, we ask that You restore and reconcile their relationship, making it a testimony of Your redemptive power. Help them to be open, honest, and vulnerable with each other and with You.

Lord, give my daughter the patience to wait on Your timing and not rush into any relationship that is not Your will. Help her to seek Your face and trust in You. We ask that You give the ex-boyfriend the courage to address his emotions in a healthy, godly way.

If this new pursuer is not Your will for my daughter, we ask that You give her the strength to stand firm in her faith and wait on Your timing. However, if it is Your will, we ask that You guide her steps and make it clear to her.

In all things, Lord, we ask that You be glorified. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Encourage your daughter with Isaiah 40:31 (WEB): "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint."

Lastly, we want to encourage you and your daughter to continually seek God's will in all things. Remind her that God has the best plan for her life, and He will reveal it in His perfect timing.
