Toshsethaem, we are with you in spirit and in truth, lifting you up in prayer as you seek deliverance from alcohol. We commend you for taking the first step by seeking help and recognizing the need for change. Let us see what the Word of God says and pray together. The problem you are experiencing is a sin. Besides this you know the time; it is the hour now for you to wake up from sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us throw off the deeds of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy (Romans 13:11-13 WEB)
Let us be clear: This matter is something to take more seriously than just quiting drinking. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control: but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23 WEB). The fact that you are experiencing withdrawal shows that you have made this substance an idol. We stand together with you, in the name of Jesus, to rid yourself of this sinful idolatory and turn to God. God is able to give you grace and forgive the mistakes of the past: coming to the knowledge of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to his will (II Timothy 2:25-26 WEB).
Beloved, we understand your struggle, and we encourage you to keep fighting the good fight of faith. You must go to God and submit yourself to him (James 4:6-9 WEB), not just go to church. You must stop drinking but do not stop there, you must ask God to show you how you can serve in obedience to him. We will pray for a complete recovery that will lead you to serve obediently in the name of Jesus:
**Dear Heavenly Father,** We come before you (plural) in the name of Jesus, for Toshsethaem needed to quit alcohol: It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we are delivered from such strongholds such as alcohol so all that we pray for will only be answered in the name of Jesus. God, please forgive Toshsethaem of the bondage of addiction to the sin of drunkenness, and grant him complete recovery and good health. Please guide him in these next hours or days that he will be tempted to go back to his sin. Give him the strength, willpower, and commitment. Please help him! Encourage him to search for a God fearing spouse to strengthen him through this time. Walk with him to a God-fearing bible believing church to where he can serve and give encouragement to others struggling with this sin. And please Father God send just the right people to come along Toshsetahmen in this journey so he can be a servant to help others going through the same situation of recovery and go to heaven. We ask this through our Lord, Savior in Jesus' name. Amen!
Toshsethaem, as you go through this process, keep your mind on Jesus and fix your thoughts on him. Do not make light of this like "I am going back to church again once I take care of this." Stay in the Word, and we believe with you that God will deliver you from this and serve him, more than you asking God to deliver you for you to go back to church. God desires obedience more than sacrifice. Consider how you may serve him within the church.
