Let's bring this situation to the Lord in prayer, seeking His will and guidance. Firstly, it's important to remember that God calls us to live peaceably with all men, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. This includes our roommates, even in difficult situations. However, this does not mean we should allow disrespect and dishonesty in our homes.
We read these words in Colossians 3:9-10: "Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator." Lying is a piece of the old man, and the old man is who ### was before he accepted Christ. So first let us pray ### will accept Christ and end the lies for this reason.
We are also called to be kind and compassionate. Prayer is indeed powerful, and we should pray for ###'s change of heart, for his salvation, and for him to find a more suitable living situation if this is in accordance to God's will. Philippians 4:6 exhorts us not to be anxious but with prayer, thanksgiving, and supplication to make our requests known to God.
Jesus Christ is the only one who can change ###. There is no directive about making ### leave. However, there are verses admonishing the Believer to have a productive lifestyle and warning against slothfulness. Consider 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12: "to aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you; that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing." This very directly addresses laziness and not helping.
Jesus explicitly tells us in Matthew 18:17: "And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. If he refuses to hear the church also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector." So, do not associate with ###. ### may not be a Christian Believer since there is no indication of that fact. ### needs to be saved and needs to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. ### needs to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while believing in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.
If ### is not a Believer, how can ### be saved? Romans 10:13-15: "For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
Jesus is real and has a real solution. ### needs the Gospel. ### can be saved. Let us continue to focus on the hope that comes from the Lord. Let us pray for ###'s salvation and God's will while maintaining a good attitude, being kind and compassionate, and living peaceably. ### may leave or ### may get saved. Let us do what the Bible says to do.
Let us pray together.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this situation with ###. We pray for his salvation, Father, and we pray that ### repents and believes in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask You to intervene and bring the Scripture to ### that encourages and admonishes. We call on You to apply Scripture in our lives and ###'s life. We pray this for ###, Jesus Christ is the only way, Father that he can be saved. And the only way ### can leave old habits is through the saving power of Jesus Christ. So, now Father, open ###'s heart to Jesus Christ. Lord, we also ask that You provide a suitable living situation for ###, according to Your will, we also pray that You guide ### to godly employment with grace and favor in the name of Jesus Christ while convicting ### of any lies and disrespect as sins.
Lord, help my part too Father. Help me to express my concerns and needs to ### as well as other Christians in a kind and compassionate manner. Do not let your Real Love permit me to call ### bad names and gossip about ###. Help me to live with ### peaceably while helping ### with the courage to express my concerns to ### and others in the household while praying in the name of Jesus Christ for Lord Jesus Christ to meet ###'s needs also. Day by day Father, we need having asked according to Your will help that help my godly desires. Help ### to have godly desires also through faith in Jesus Christ the only way.
Father, we also pray specifically for ###, for patience, wisdom, and grace in this situation in the name of Jesus Christ. Help ### to see that ### as a means to strengthen ###'s faith in this situation in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray together in Jesus' Name for a godly resolution. Amen.
We know there are many struggles in this life, but we are called to hold fast to the knowledge that our battle is not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Keeping our focus on Jesus will allow us to endure and overcome the trials of this world. In fact, 1 John 5:4: "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world."
