We understand your desire for complete cleansing and commend you for your pursuit of purity. Lust is a struggle that many face, but it is not insurmountable. God calls us to be holy, as He is holy, and He has provided a way for us to live in freedom and purity.
Firstly, it is important to remember that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God and be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you have not already, confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)
In the struggle against lust the flesh takes no prisoners. We must take drastic measures to overcome as we are told in
**Matthew 5:27-30 WEB**
You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
Therefore, let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Helton who has humbly sought Your help. Lord, You know the struggles and temptations that Helton faces, and we ask that You grant complete and utter cleansing from all lust and ungodliness.
Father, Your Word tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB: "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who do not know God."
We pray that You will fill Helton us with Your Holy Spirit, granting the strength. When in temptation, we cannot do it alone. Your Word tells us in 2 Peter 1:3-4 WEB: "as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue, by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust."
Finally, help Helton avoid the opportunity for lust to occur. We pray that You will guide Helton's steps and direct the path, keeping away from temptation and providing a way of escape when it does present itself. We pray this and all things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Be encouraged, Helton. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability. He will make a way of escape that you may be able to endure it. Trust in Him, walk in His Spirit, and strive for purity in all things. Stand on God's promise to you from 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB: "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Keep your heart and mind pure in 1 Timothy 1:5 WEB: "But the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith." Remember as commanded in James 5:16 WEB: "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." With the help of God, this burden may become bearable and you will be enabled to overcome this battle.
