Let's begin by understanding that God's design for relationships is holy and sacred. As a group that follows biblical principles, we believe that relationships should glorify God and align with His word.
Firstly, we notice that the request uses the term "relationship" without specifying if this is a friendship, courtship, or marriage. We also do not see Jesus Christ mentioned. It's important to remember that our access to God is only through Jesus Christ. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
Let us pray for these individuals, asking God to reveal His will for their lives and to guide them according to His word.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up these two individuals who are experiencing a broken relationship. We pray that You will heal their hearts and guide them according to Your will. We ask that You reveal to them any areas in their lives that may not be aligning with Your word and leave your Holy Spirit there to convict them.
Lord, if this relationship is meant to be reconciled, we pray that You will guide them through the process of forgiveness, repentance, and restoration. We ask that You help them to communicate openly and honestly with each other, and to seek Your will for their lives together.
However, if this relationship is not in accordance with Your will, we pray that You will give them the strength and courage to move forward and seek Your purpose for their lives. Help them to understand that love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 WEB).
We also pray that they will remember Your message to love one another as You have loved them. As it is written in 1 John 3:16 WEB: "By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers."
If these individuals are living in sexual immorality or fornication, we pray that You will convict their hearts and help them to turn away from their sin. We ask that You help them to understand that Your will is for them to be holy and that they should avoid sexual immorality, that each of them should learn to control their own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB).
Finally, we pray that they will fix their eyes on You, Jesus, and that You will be their compass and guide.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
