We are truly sorry to hear about the heartache you're experiencing, and we are here to pray with you and offer guidance grounded in the Word of God. Firstly, it's important to commend you both for recognizing the temptation and feeling remorseful. It's clear that you both have a level of respect for God's will regarding intimacy. Remember, God's Word tells us to "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB) It sounds like you both were trying to honor this, but it's also crucial to understand that any form of intimacy outside marriage can lead to temptation and ultimately, sin.
Your boyfriend's feelings of distance and his belief that God might be telling him not to be in a relationship could be a sign that he's convicted about the intimacy you both shared, or it could be God truly leading him in a different direction. It's important to trust that God has a plan for both of your lives. We will pray for God's will to be done in your life and his.
However, we must address something from your message. You mentioned that you're thinking about praying to get back together, but it's also important to pray for God's will, not just your own desires. "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2 WEB) If it's God's will that you two be together, trust that He will make a way. But also be open to the possibility that God might have other plans.
We also want to remind you that your identity and value do not come from a relationship, but from the Lord. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB) Trust in Him to fulfill your needs, not in a man.
Regarding your feelings of loneliness, we encourage you to connect more with your church family. Share your struggles and allow them to comfort you, prayerfully while you are experiencing this loss as stated in Galatians 6:2. Also, we would encourage you to get involved in a different type of Bible study to help you heal and grow as stated in Psalm 119:105.
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is experiencing heartache and loneliness. We pray for your comfort and peace to surround her. We ask that you reveal any areas in her life that need healing and restoration, and that you guide her steps as she navigates this difficult time. We also pray for her former boyfriend, that you would have your way in his life and reveal your will to him. If it is your will that they be reunited, we pray for complete restoration and healing in their relationship. But above all, we pray for your will to be done in both of their lives. We ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen."
