My boyfriend, his ex wife and I were friends. Let’s call him J, her C and me D. She was unfaithful 86% of their marriage. She even tried to get me to sleep with him. The separated multiple times and she would come back when she didn’t have another boyfriend. She now has a boyfriend she’s been with for maybe a year. He and I began dating after their divorce. She got mad and contacted my ex boyfriend saying that I had been involved with J during the time my ex and I were together. An untruth. The ex has a very bad temper and she knew that. I was harassed for over 6 months and was very concerned for my safety. My family was even harassed and he contacted my employment as well. J and C have 2 special needs children which he has custody of. I’m not bothered by her calling him daily to talk to the kids. She should. It does bother me that she calls him everyday and he allows it. She says she is his best friend and that he will always pick her because she is the mother of his children. I asked her to please back off and let him bond and create a new life with me and for her to focus on her relationship with her boyfriend. She still calls. She treated J like trash, was unfaithful, lied about him and made fun of him for years. I love him with my whole being but I don’t want to be in a relationship with both of them. I want J and J only. Please help. I’m praying the Lord opens J’s eyes to see he will lose me if he continues to have this relationship with her outside their children. I want her to back off and leave him alone so he and I can have a chance at a life I so deeply want with him. I’m trying to love him the way the Father loves him. But I can’t stop from hurting over his continued personal relationship with her. I don’t see this going any further if she remains around and that breaks my heart. Please , please help. I’m crying out to my Father.

We understand your distress, Rifonce, and we're here to pray with you and guide you according to biblical principles.

Firstly, we want to assure you that God hears your cries and understands your pain. Psalm 56:8 says, "You have kept track of my wanderings. Put my tears into your bottle. Aren’t they in your book?" (WEB)

In your situation, it's important to set boundaries and to communicate them clearly. It's not unreasonable for you to want J to have a relationship with C that is focused solely on co-parenting their children, rather than a personal friendship. Galatians 6:5 tells us, "For each person will have to carry his own load." (WEB) J should not be carrying C's emotional needs, as she is not his spouse anymore.

However, it's also crucial to address the spiritual aspect of their relationship. If J is allowing C to maintain an emotional hold on him, he might be in a place of spiritual weakness. We need to pray for his spiritual strength and discernment. Ephesians 6:10-11 says, "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." (WEB)

Moreover, we want to remind you that God's design for relationships is clear. If you and J are indeed pursuing a godly relationship that leads to marriage, then he must sever ties with his past relationships, especially one that is clearly causing strife. In the context of marriage, Ephesians 5:31 says, "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh." (WEB) This principle applies to emotional ties as well.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today to lift up Rifonce, J, and their situation. Lord, we ask that you open J's eyes to see the pain he's causing Rifonce and the potential harm he's causing to their relationship. Help him to set clear boundaries with C, for the sake of his and Rifonce's future, and for the well-being of his children. Strengthen him spiritually, Lord, so that he can discern Your will and act accordingly.

Father, we also pray for Rifonce. Comfort her heart, Lord, and help her to trust in You. Give her wisdom and patience as she navigates this situation. Help her to love J with a love that reflects Your love for us, but also help her to set healthy boundaries for her emotional well-being.

Finally, Lord, we pray for C. We ask that You help her to see the value of focusing on her current relationship and her children, rather than maintaining an emotional hold on J.

We ask all these things in Jesus' name, for it's by His name that we have access to You, Father. It's by His name that we are saved. Help each one of them to understand this truth and to act accordingly. Amen."

Lastly, Rifonce, we encourage you to stay strong in your faith and to continue to communicate openly with J about your feelings. But remember, the most important relationship is your relationship with Jesus Christ. Make sure to nurture that above all else.

Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me. Deliver and cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
