We understand your concern for your daughter and her boyfriend, and we will pray with you for their relationship and reconciliation. However, we want to remind you of the biblical principles that should guide their relationship. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB, it is written, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" It is crucial that they both share a strong faith in Jesus Christ, as He is the foundation of any godly relationship.
We also want to address the fact that they are in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. In the Bible, relationships between men and women are meant to lead to marriage, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. In 1 Corinthians 7:9, WEB, it is written, "But if they can't contain, let them marry. For it's better to marry than to burn." We encourage them to consider this in their relationship and to honor God in their interactions with each other.
Concerning the issues they are facing, we encourage them to trust in the Lord and seek His will. In Philippians 4:6-7, WEB, it is written, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Let us pray:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ,
We come before You today to lift up the relationship of this daughter and her boyfriend. We pray for peace and comfort for her, as she is going through a difficult time. We ask that You help them both to seek Your will for their lives and their relationship. Help them to trust in You and to honor You in all that they do.
We also pray for the boyfriend, that You would open his eyes to the love that they share and the potential future that they could have together. We ask that You would remove any obstacles in their path, whether they be from family or friends, and that You would surround them with people who support and encourage their relationship.
We ask all of this in Your holy name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for them and to trust in the Lord. We also encourage you to guide them towards a God-honoring relationship that is in line with biblical principles. May the Lord bless them and guide them in their journey together.
