The Center for Disease Control has a tough job. The data they release impacts the way people live and respond to the virus.

The cases of virus they have to report, as well as the numbers of those who have succumbed to it, are a wake-up that the problem is real for many — and how close it is coming to home for others.

Another number that is reported is the amount of people that recover. Obviously, this number is not reported nearly as quickly for several reasons. One, doctors are busy saving lives. It was an epidemic — tracking down people that have recovered is more difficult because a very small percent actually had serious symptoms, as explained all along, and in a lot of areas the serious and critical cases are almost overwhelming.

Another reason the number of listed recoveries are not reported as quickly is that the human being that has recovered is also not sick anymore. Sounds funny, but it’s called “the physicians aphorism.” Only the sick are aware of their condition. The healthy call it not to mind.

There is a third, however, and that’s the scary one. They are uncertain to a degree of the level of transferability of the virus by a recovered person. There is also (and most think this highly improbable), the question if a person can get the virus again. Or a different strain of the virus?

I say that to say this. The numbers of recovered people is extremely light. There are way more, just like there may be more cases than those of which we are aware, but only death is highly certain, so all those numbers are reported. The numbers of recoveries, though far more than the numbers of those which have succumbed, are harder to get, less definitive and more risky.

Father we thank You for “all in authority (1 Tim 2:1-8). We ask for wisdom and discernment for the CDC and the Health Institutes to give accurate, “safe” and certain numbers for those who’ve beaten this plague and have recovered. We ask You expedite the antibody tests. Help them be accurate and effective. Thank You for distribution. We ask they will prove with extremely high certainty that people have either not contracted the virus or have contracted it and the antibodies are proof they have overcome. Give wisdom in a multitude of counsellors and please release accurate numbers of recoveries to the masses. It is encouraging and hope-filled, and we rejoice with those who rejoice for the numbers that have been provided and for EVERY ONE that’s been spared— we say it is You who grants the victory. Thank You in Jesus’ Name.

“While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.””
