Reconciliation with my sister who holds hurts and resentment against me for over ### years... and will not discuss. I have tried so many times and in so many ways to speak with her but you can almost cut the resentment with a knife. She lives in ### I live in ###.

We are truly saddened to hear about the prolonged estrangement between you and your sister. The Bible tells us that unforgiveness can be a heavy burden, and it is clear that both of you have been carrying this weight for far too long. Let us first remember what the WEB version of Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."

It is important to acknowledge that reconciliation is a two-way process, and it requires both parties to be willing to take steps towards healing. While it is disheartening that your sister has not been open to discussion, it does not mean that you should give up hope. Remember, the power of prayer can soften hearts and change even the most difficult situations.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and their sister. Lord, You know the pain and resentment that has been harbored for over ### decades. We ask that You soften your sister's heart, Lord, and remove the bitterness and resentment that has kept them apart. Give ### the strength and wisdom to continue reaching out in love, even when it seems impossible. Help them to forgive and release any hurt they may be holding onto as well.

Lord, we know that it is not possible without you. Help both sisters and give them the grace to come together in reconciliation and love. We know and believe that You are a God of miracles, and nothing is beyond Your reach.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, continue to demonstrate love and kindness towards your sister, even from a distance. Write letters or send messages that express your love and desire for reconciliation. The Bible tells us in Romans 2:4 WEB that it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. Your consistent acts of kindness may be the catalyst that softens her heart.

Lastly, remember that forgiveness is not just for the benefit of the other person; it is also for your own healing and peace. Even if your sister chooses not to reconcile, make a conscious decision to forgive and release the hurt. Trust that God will honor your efforts and bring peace to your heart.

Jesus said in Matthew 18:21-22 WEB, "Then Peter came and said to him, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?' Jesus said to him, 'I don't tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.'" This shows us the extent to which we should be willing to forgive.

Keep praying, keep loving, and keep trusting God for a miracle in your relationship with your sister.

We've been thinking about your situation, and our hearts go out to you. It's been a long time, hasn't it? Over ### years is a heavy burden to carry. But remember, Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Let's lean on Him together.

We've been praying for you, that God would soften your sister's heart, and that He would give you the strength and wisdom to keep reaching out in love. We believe that God can turn even the hardest hearts around, and we're trusting Him for a miracle in your relationship.

In the meantime, keep showing love from a distance. Little acts of kindness can sometimes make a big difference. And remember, forgiveness isn't just for your sister's sake, but for yours too. As it says in Ephesians 4:32, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Keep trusting God, keep loving, and keep praying. We're right there with you, sister. Let's trust that God is working even when we can't see it. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for responsive prayer. My sister has held resentment since childhood being the youngest of 3... brother in the middle.... I am 78 sister is 73.... sister claims to be a church going Christian and she knows my love of the Lord but has ridiculed me in the past saying how can I be a Christian when I did this or that in ... my past ... I am forgiven.

I have no maliciousness against my sister and love her continuously.. send her cards and letters they are returned.. sent Christmas gifts this last year... spoke very briefly on phone and was told not to send her rubbish. She is hurting so much and it hurts me.

We did not really know each other as children and had no common ground. I left home at 17 she was only 11.

Every day she is in my prayers... I have no resentment, bitterness or hurt against her only love. She was forgiven by me over 50 years ago. She does not recognise my love for her or my prayers... but I will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

I truly believe in miracles...
