Let's bring your concerns before the Lord, seeking His wisdom and guidance.
Firstly, it's important to understand that God's desire is for us to live in harmony with one another. The Bible tells us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18 WEB). It's commendable that you're seeking to be a better friend and to understand how to love others in a godly way.
Friendship is a two-way street, and it's important to listen to your friend's feelings and perspective. The Bible teaches us to "do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:3-4 WEB).
However, it is important to not have such a strong emotional attachment to a friendship that you act out of desperation or fear of losing a friend as your primary concern. IF this friendship was one sided and you feel that you must have your friend back, then you possibly did not understand what a godly relationship is.
If there has been discord, it's important to address it biblically. "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift" (Matthew 5:23-24 WEB). This means that if you have wronged your friend, or they perceive that you have, you should seek to make it right. Prayerfully consider if there are specific actions or words you need to apologize for, and do so sincerely. Ask your friend for forgiveness and work on rebuilding the friendship with selfless love.
The Bible tells us that as Christians we should have equal concern for each other and seek to build each other up. In the Bible we are called the body of Christ.
Pray with us:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in need of guidance and healing in their friendship. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to any selfishness or ungodly behavior that may have strained this relationship. Give them the courage to address any wrongs, to apologize sincerely, and to seek true reconciliation.
Teach them, Lord, what it means to be a godly friend. Help them to love selflessly, to consider others' needs above their own, and to be a beacon of Your love and grace. We ask that You soften their friend's heart, that they may be open to reconciliation and forgiveness.
We also pray that you will help them to understand a godly relationship and recognize when a relationship is not godly.
Guide them both into a deeper understanding of Your will for their friendship and their individual lives.
We ask this in Jesus' name believing that we have been heard and it is done in Jesus Name.
