Andrew, we understand that you're going through a difficult time and we want to lift you and Andrea up in prayer. However you should be praying for God to give you the strength to forgive her and come to peace with this. We do not pray for actions that are contrary to God's will and would be considered sin, nor do we pray for God to speak to you through someone else. We do pray for God to give you both discernment of his will and blessings in your lives. We also pray that you find a Christian spouse should it be God's will. Before we address your request, we want to remind you of the importance of aligning relationships with biblical principles. The Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB) and that the marriage bed should be kept undefiled (Hebrews 13:4, WEB).
First, we want to address the issue of forgiveness. It's clear that you're hurting, but it's also important to remember that forgiveness is a crucial part of the healing process. As it is stated in Ephesians 4:32, WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Even if reconciliation doesn't occur, forgiveness will bring peace to your heart.
Secondly, we want to remind you of the power of prayer in the name of Jesus. It's only through His name that we have access to God the Father. You did not mention this in your request. As it is written in John 14:6, WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" And in Acts 4:12, WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Now, let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up Andrew and Andrea. We pray for their mental health and Andrea's safety. We ask that You grant them both the spirit of forgiveness and the ability to have an open and civil discussion. We pray that You provide for their needs as individuals and help them discern Your will. We pray for your blessings if they seek to enter a Christ centered marriage. Guide them by the Holy Spirit to the spouse you have for them if it be your will. We rebuke any lies of the enemy that may cause them to believe things contrary to Your word. We pray that You, God, speak directly to them individually and provide the peace that passes all understanding.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to seek God's will in all your relationships as you continue to pursue a spouse. God's Word teaches us to be equally yoked with fellow believers (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). And as you grow in your faith, always remember the love and forgiveness that Jesus extends to us, and strive to show that same love and forgiveness to others.
