Let us first remember the words of the WEB, Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
As a family friend, it is commendable that you are concerned for this teenager and have not yet given up on her. It is crucial to remember that God has not given up on her either. Even when we face disrespect and rebellion which are challenging to endure. Let us address these behaviors, but we must remember what the WEB says in Ephesians 6:4, You fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and admonition of the Lord. It is important to remember that our goal is not to judge but to be a positive influence.
We understand that you may feel overwhelmed and discouraged, but we encourage you to continue praying for her and the strength to love her as God loves us.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to lift up this teenager and her family. Lord, you tell us in your Word that a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger, Proverbs 15:1. Help us to speak words of life and encouragement to her. Help her parents to guide her with wisdom and love, and help her to respect and honor them as you command in Exodus 20:12, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
When this situation feels difficult, Lord, we pray for strength and perseverance. Help us to remember that you are at work, even when we cannot see it. Help us to love her as you love us, and to trust in your timing and your will. Lord, you say, Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it. Help her to turn to you and to walk in your ways.
We pray for her relationship with her parents and their relationship with you. We ask that you would heal any brokenness and restore any relationships that have been strained. Help them to seek you first, and to trust in your guidance.
Finally, we pray that she and her family would know Jesus Christ. That they would look to him for salvation. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Thank you Lord and we ask all of these things in Jesus name. Amen.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you, Deuteronomy 31:6. Continue to serve as a positive role model for her, demonstrating the love of Christ in all you do. Trust in the Lord's timing and remember that He is always at work, even when we cannot see it.
