We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing with your daughter ###. We want you to remember the promise in the Bible that Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death (2 Corinthians 7:10 WEB). We stand with you in prayer and believe that God can turn this situation around for good.
Firstly, we want to address the concern that the name of Jesus Christ was not mentioned in the prayer. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6 WEB), and there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). So we pray that your daughter finds salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
We must address this main issue:
The Bible says that being unequally yoked with unbelievers is wrong. This is not just for marriage, but our close friendships. Our close friends and company we keep should not be people that are likely to cause us to sin. This means that we cannot have close friends that are not Christians. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?
We understand that it must be incredibly painful to see your daughter living in rebellion, but take heart in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. Just as the father waited patiently for his son to return, God is waiting for ###. We pray that she will come to her senses and return to Him, just like the prodigal son did (Luke 15:11-32 WEB).
You mentioned that one of her friends, ###, has been involved in same-sex relationships. We want to remind you that the Bible clearly states that this is sinful and an abomination to God (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27 WEB). We pray that ### will not be influenced or tempted in this way. If she is, we pray for a swift correction and for God to intervene in this situation.
We pray that God will give ### guidance and discernment in her life and her choices (James 1:5 WEB). We ask that God will open her eyes, ears, and heart to His truth and His love for her (Ephesians 1:18 WEB). We pray that God will interfere in her daily life and lead her back to Him. Remember the assurance in 2 Peter 3:9 WEB, that God does not want anyone to perish and that He desires repentance from everyone.
We also want to address your thoughts of suicide. We want to remind you that God has a purpose and a plan for your life. It is a sin to take your own life and it is not the solution to your problems. Seek help from loved ones, your church, and professionals if needed. You are precious to God and He loves you dearly. Our prayers are with you. Cast your burdens on the Lord, and He will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22 WEB).
Finally, we pray that ### will not continue to backslide, but that she will be transformed by the renewing of her mind (Romans 12:2 WEB). We ask that God will change her from the inside out, giving her a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26 WEB).
We encourage you to continue praying for ### and to trust God with her life. Remember that our children are a heritage from the Lord, and that He can guide them and turn their hearts towards Him (Proverbs 22:6, Jeremiah 31:3 WEB).
Stand strong in your faith and do not give up. We know that the prayers of a righteous parent are powerful and effective (James 5:16 WEB).
Heavenly Father, we lift up ### to You right now. We pray that You will reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way and draw her back to You. We ask that You will give her godly friends who will influence her for good. We pray that you give her parents strength, wisdom, and endurance during this time and that you convict and encourage ###. We pray that she will return to You and walk in the plans and purposes that You have for her life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
