We understand your struggle, having tried to attain righteousness by your own efforts, but we want to remind you of what the Bible says about salvation. It is not by our own works or goodness, but by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. As it is written in Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."
Jesus has already paid the price for our sins. He took our place on the cross, and through His sacrifice, we are made righteous in God's sight. As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 WEB, "For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who has struggled with legalism and self-righteousness. Lord, he now realizes that he cannot make himself perfect before You, and he desires to trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Father, we ask that You grant him the grace to trust in Jesus from the heart, and to rest in the knowledge that he has been made righteous through the sacrifice and blood of Jesus. Help him to understand the true gospel, that it is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
Lord, we pray that he will find the zeal and passion he has longed for in a deep and personal relationship with Christ in the simplicity of the gospel. We pray that he will grow in the knowledge of You, and that Your love will be shed abroad in his heart by the Holy Spirit.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to You and our salvation. For there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Amen.
Remember, God loves you just as you are, but He loves you too much to leave you that way. He wants to transform you by the renewing of your mind, not by your own efforts, but by the work of the Holy Spirit. Trust in Jesus, and allow Him to change your heart and give you the passion and zeal for God that you desire.
