Disciple of Prayer
I posted this request prior. More prayer is needed...
"I am asking for prayers for Geoff. He is a newbie believer and I believe the Lord could do some amazing things with this man. He is quite logical and likes things to make sense and have clear explanation for things and won't settle for stuff too "foo foo airy fairy". If Geoff could humble himself enough to take the time to give the Bible a chance to show him things, I think he would be quite enlightened and would be used quite mightily for he Lord. However, the devil is really busy trying to rob him of all that goodness. This man has a keen sense of humor and is truly funny in an clean innocent way but there is an evil spirit of mocking and sarcasm that keeps him from accepting the biblical truths as they should be and all kinds of other spiritual ideas get entertained. His social life and his "reputation" with those he connects with gets in the way of sanctification as well. There is a duality with him which leads me to believe there are active spirits blocking him and there is a lot of internal clean up/healing that needs to be done but once that is more evident, it's absolutely amazing. I see the potential. Please pray!"

Since then, Geoff seems to have lost his more innocent sense of humour and his nicer/kinder and more carefree self.  Near blessings seem to fade off for him and circumstantial pressure has increased, as he now needs a job for example. He has gotten angry, controlling, or otherwise emotionally shut down, socially mocking and sarcastic.  I had to become socially distant, as he became heartless, angry and insulting when I talked about my faith or simply express myself in Christian ways or anything else that may be normal but emotionally based.  He refuses to listen to reason and argues in dominating tones and wants everything on his own terms.

"Lord, we know transformation may not happen overnight. Give us the patience and strength to wait on You, as You continue this process within Geoff over time. You have clearly stated, Omnipotent Father, that as we behold your glory, we are changed into your image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of you, oh Lord" We thank-You Lord. In Jesus name. Amen

Thank you for your prayers!  He used to be an "atheist" who (still) strongly believes in evolution and started going to church to "find peace" and started calling himself a Christian.  He has been wrestling with the concept of sin and finds it hard to apologise for his mistakes or bad behaviour.  Things like talking snakes in the garden of Eden seem ridiculous to take seriously or literally - too "out of the box" in thought.  He went to church with me. He seemed to respect the pastor speaking and what was said and the Holy Spirit was clearly making progress with him as he publically responded at the end of service like he wanted to get "right with God"....immediately blessings lined up for him.

However, as the battle goes and pressures came too.  He started making serious verbal declarations, like " I will never be a Christian guy who reads his Bible and believes all that it says in there"  ( and calling himself an atheist when convenient and a Christian when convenient) and started verbally attacking me for believing it and mocking me for praying.  When I asked him why he likes going to church, his response was again to "find peace".  I asked him where that peace comes from and he looked completely flustered as he had no answer and has been verbally insulting about everything I say and do and easily upset with me since. The blessings have faded off (at least temporarily) and he has emotionally hardened up and at times he has been rather socially impossible with me as he was trying to rattle/scare me while upset to make sure he got what he wanted on his terms.  I had to socially give him space to let the Lord handle him without him being able to blame me and to protect myself.  He had to apologise to me twice in one week (and should apologise a third time but refuses and has gotten "unsafe" to be around and hence the social distance) and that fact bothered him as well as me, but at least he apologised in a sincere manner, twice.

My dearest sister...with all do respect.

You are wise to keep your emotional and physical distance from someone whom appears to have emotional wounds.

For they will always exorcize their pain on others. Until they are ready to hold up the mirror, and admit to their pain by doing their own emotional inventory, then healing from that pain no one is safe.

Perhaps the lesson for you here is, that our dear Lord wants you to realize you own worth, as far as how you deserve to be treated.

Praying for him is the kind and right thing to do, but always protect the precious person that you seem to be.

Blessings

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
