We are so glad to hear that you have given your life to Jesus Christ, Raynique. It is only through Him that we find true freedom and victory. Your concern for your children is beautiful and very important.
Your struggle with alcohol is a significant issue. It is a common temptation in the world but something God wants to deliver you from. We are reminded in
1 Peter 5:8 WEB Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Sobriety is important for parents as they raise their children. We are tasked to be sober and watchful. This allows us to be there for our children. Alcohol diminishes our ability to be self-controlled. Thi is important as children are a gift from God.
Psalms 127:3 WEB Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is His reward.
We need to be sober and watchful to protect our children and homes as God expects us to do. The fact that your father drinks does not mean you are destined to that life nor is it acceptable just because of that. We all have choices to make despite what our parents or ancestors did. We are each responsible for our own actions and decisions.
1 Peter 4:3-4 WEB For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries. 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil:
We are to avoid these excesses and pursue God rather than the lusts of this world. We cannot do it on our own but need God to do it.
John 8:34-36 WEB Jesus answered them, Most assuredly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin. A bondservant doesn't dwell in the house forever. Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
We need to be in Jesus and have Him in us to be free from sin. By doing this we will be able to obey all of God's commands, including being parents that are sober and watchful. This is a true blessing God has provided. Let us pray with you for the deliverance you seek.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister Raynique. Thank You, Lord, for the beautiful gift of her children and the love she has for them. We pray for her complete deliverance from alcohol addiction. Father, we know that Your desire is for us to be sober and self-controlled, and we ask for Your divine intervention in Raynique's life. By the blood of Jesus we overcome the grip of alcohol.
As she revealed, the same addiction that has plagued her father, Lord. Your promise is that the sins of the father would no longer visit the third and fourth generations for those who love and serve You (Exodus 20:5-6, WEB). We claim this promise for Raynique and her family. Your Word says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). We ask that You reveal the way of escape to Raynique from this addiction and restore her to a healthy life and relationship with her children. We pray the healing and grace in Jesus Christ to break this addiction.
In Jesus' name, we pray for her healing and restoration. Provide her with the strength and wisdom to be the mother You have called her to be. We pray for her home and for her children. Let them have a spirit of forgiveness and love towards Raynique as she turns from this addiction.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
