We join you in lifting up your nephew in prayer, asking God to surround him with His loving protection and guidance. We pray that your nephew will grow in wisdom, with God's grace to better help guide him into being a person of righteous character, one who hunger's and thirsts for Christ and Christ alone. We pray that God will place good influences and friends in his life, and that he will be drawn away from and not succumb to temptations that can so easily cause stumbling.
Let us remember those words of Jesus to his disciples in John 16:33, 'I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world'.
We pray that your nephew will learn to obey and honor his elders, as the Bible instructs in Leviticus 19:32, "You shall rise up before the gray head, and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God. I am Yahweh." We ask God to instill in him a desire to worship the Lord in a church and Christian community that teaches God's Word faithfully to encourage his spiritual growth.
In Proverbs 22:6 we read, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." We pray that God will provide your nephew with a good education, discovering and cultivating the talents God has given him, and that he will find an excellent school where he can study and grow.
Most importantly we pray these things in the name of Jesus, knowing full well that no prayer can be heard by God without the name of Jesus. For Jesus said himself that 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'.
Lastly we pray with you letting us remember those words of Paul to the church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 10:4, 'For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds'.
Altogether we pray that your nephew will overcome temptation and be delivered from any evil path, trusting in the Lord's promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
As we lift up your nephew to the Lord, we encourage the family and you and your nephew himself to seek after Jesus Christ's heart and place him at the center of his life. It is through a personal relationship with Christ that true transformation and protection are found, where Jesus says in John 16:24, "'Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.'"
