We are truly heartsick to hear that your son is facing mental and physical abuse from those entrusted with his care. Our hearts go out to you and your family, as well as to the suffering child. As Christians, we believe that we are responsible to protect the innocent and pray for all parties involved. We know that the Creator is a God of justice, love and peace.
First, we need to address the abuse. The Bible tells us in Psalm 82.3-4 WEB to "Vindicate the weak and fatherless. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." It is our responsibility as Christians to protect those who are being abused.
The Old Testament prophet Isaiah reveals the heart of God regarding children in Isaiah 40.11: "He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arms, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young." Furthermore, in Matthew 18.6 WEB, Jesus says, "But whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea."
Please understand that we are not only praying for you, but we also encourage you to act. You must report this to your local child protection agency and possibly law enforcement if you suspect your child is being harmed in any way. It is not enough just to pray, but we must also exercise our God-given responsibilities. If you are unsure who to contact or where to turn, please ask us, and we will help you locate the information for your area.
We do pray for your son's safety and will ask God to intervene in the situation as well as guide you to take the correct steps to protect your son.
Father, we come before You as one, lifting up this mother and her precious son to You. Lord, we know that children are a heritage of You and that You care for them deeply. We ask, Father, that You protect this sweet boy and remove him from the abuse he is currently enduring. We pray for conviction for the abusers and that justice will prevail, in Jesus' name. We also ask, Lord, that You guide this mother. Give her wisdom and direction as she takes steps to protect her child. Let her be filled with Your peace and reassurance as she walks through this dark time. Help her to be a light to her son and to show him the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. And, most importantly, we pray for healing for her son. We ask that You take away the pain and fear he has experienced, replacing it with Your perfect peace.
