Adarma, we understand the struggle you're facing as the eldest daughter, feeling that your needs and interests are often suppressed. We want to remind you of your value and importance in God's eyes and within your family. The Bible tells us in Galatians 3:28 (WEB), "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Your feelings and needs are just as valid as those of your brothers.
Firstly, we encourage you to communicate openly with your parents about how you feel. Proverbs 15:23 (WEB) says, "A man has joy in giving an apt answer; and how good is a word in its right time!" Share with them your aspirations, your love for reading, and your desire to have the same freedom and happiness as your brothers.
It's also important to remember that it's not wrong to want good things for yourself. In Matthew 7:11 (WEB), Jesus says, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" God wants to give you good gifts, and so should your earthly parents.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up Adarma. Lord, she feels overlooked and undervalued, her needs suppressed for the sake of her family. We pray, Father, that You give her the courage to express her feelings to her parents, and that You soften their hearts to understand and respond with love and fairness.
Lord Jesus, we also pray that Adarma finds her identity and value in You. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that You have good plans for her life (Jeremiah 29:11).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we noticed that your prayer did not mention Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it's only through Jesus that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 (WEB) says, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Trust in Jesus, and bring your requests to God in His name.
