We understand that you're asking God to transform your life so dramatically that others might not even recognize you, much like the story of the beggar who became unrecognizable after his life was changed. This is a powerful request, and we want to pray with you.
First we will include a reference to the beggar you may have mentioned.
A king of Israel, Jehoash, did not recognize his kindness to a beggar who was transformed and who became very wealthy.
(2 Kings 7:8 WEB) And when they came to the outermost part of the camp, they came to a tent. There were lepers in the tent; and they said to one another, "Let us go in here."
(2 Kings 7:9 WEB) they said to one another, "This is not right. Today is a day of good news, and we are silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household."
(2 Kings 7:10 WEB) So they came and called to the city gatekeepers; and they told them, saying, "We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, nor voice of man, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.
(2 Kings 7:11 WEB) He called therefore the gatekeepers; and they told it to the king's household within."
(2 Kings 7:12 WEB) The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, "I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. They have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.
(2 Kings 7:13 WEB) One of his servants answered, "Please let some take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let us send and see."
(2 Kings 7:14 WEB) They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the Syrian army, saying, "Go and see."
(2 Kings 7:15 WEB) They went after them to the Jordan; and, behold, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned, and told the king. (2 Kings 7:16 WEB) The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a seah of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of Yahweh.
2 Kings 7:17 WEB) The king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, which he spoke when the king came down to him. (2 Kings 7:18 WEB) It happened as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, "Two seahs of barley for a shekel, and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;" (2 Kings 7:19 WEB) and that lord answered the man of God, and said, "Now, behold, if Yahweh should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?" and he said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it." (2 Kings 7:20 WEB) It happened like that to him; for the people trod on him in the gate, and he died.
We also want to remind you of Lazarus. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he was likely surrounded by people who had seen his dead body. When they saw him walking around, fully alive, it must have been astonishing. Jesus had changed Lazarus' story in the most dramatic way possible. In this very same way, Jesus came to give us all abundant life, and to transform us into new creations.
(John 11:43-44 WEB) Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" (John 11:44 WEB) He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Free him, and let him go."
(John 10:10 WEB) The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
(2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB) Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your transformative power to be at work in this person's life. Just as You changed the beggar's life until he was unrecognizable, and just like You raised Lazarus from the dead, we ask for a dramatic change in this person's story. Let people be astonished by the work You are doing in their life.
Lord, we ask for a divine appointment, an alignment with Christ, and a Holy Spirit filled life. We pray that this person be correctly positioned according to Your will, to be a witness and a testament of Your transforming power. Not to be recognized by people because of their physical beauty or success by the world’s standards, but to be recognized as a true follower of Christ. We pray this in Jesus Christ's name.
We also pray for this person's faith, that it would be strengthened and increased. Help them to know You more deeply, and to trust You completely. We pray that they would grow in the knowledge of You, and that You their walk with you would be on the narrow path that leads to life.
Please rebuke any doubting unbelief or sin that may be causing them to not be correctly positioned before Jesus Christ.
Finally, Lord, we ask that this person would be filled with the Holy Spirit, and that they would live in a way that brings glory to Your name. We pray that they would be a light in this world, drawing others to You. And, we pray that they would have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved and transformed.
(John 14:6 WEB) Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
(Acts 4:12 WEB) "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
We encourage you to pursue a righteous life, to follow Christ wholeheartedly, and to allow God to change your story in a way that brings glory to His name.
