Let us come together to lift up Dennis in prayer, seeking the Lord's intervention and comfort.
May God grant us the wisdom to understand fully the situation facing Dennis. We pray as a group who stands on the word of God. Jesus, Himself, said “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” (WEB, Matthew 18:19).
Firstly, we give thanks that you acknowledged the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
We pray fervently for Dennis, who is struggling with PTSD and is confined for two weeks. Lord Jesus, You are the God of all comfort. Please surround Dennis with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We pray for courage and strength that only comes from You Lord.
May the Lord's purposes be fulfilled in Dennis's life as he navigates this challenging time. Knowing that "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).
We feel it is appropriate to mention that the your request includes that Dennis is bi-polar. We must address this in this response. Often this is a label our society uses in an attempt to understand bizarre behavior in a person. The proper response to mental health issues is to promote a healthy mental state and encourage people toward the peace and stability that Jesus promises.
More importantly is inner peace and a healthy balanced life. Your request did not specify medication or counseling for Dennis. If no medication is in use, then it needs to be examined and discussed. We agree that prayer will be the most important strategy for Dennis's situation. We expect that the rest of the situation will manifest itself as this progresses.
We pray also for the authorities overseeing Dennis's confinement, that they would act with wisdom and compassion. We ask that the Lord soften their hearts and guide them to make decisions that align with His will, and that may provide a better outcome in the future for Dennis.
With the situation concerning PTSD, we are first reminded of these verses. Here is John 14:27(WEB): "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 16:33(WEB): "I have spoken these things to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."
We are distressed that your request did not mention religious counseling and spiritual guidance for Dennis to help him heal and cope with his experience. We have confidence that God will ease his suffering in this time of need with the proper Biblical counseling. Romans 10:13(WEB): "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved". We are reminded of several verses that include Psalm 46:1(WEB): " God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Philippians 4:7(WEB): "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Deuteronomy 31:6(WEB): "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
At this time it is appropriate to remind Valfyl, the requestor, not to be swayed by the circumstances before you. Praying for Dennis is within the will of God. It is critically important for Valfyl to apply the scripture and promises of God just as much to himself as to Dennis during this time of crisis.
Overall, praying for Dennis is totally within the will of God. We plead the promises of God for Dennis now. We commit Dennis to the Lord as we pray to God for His divine comfort, healing, and guidance. We command the forces of darkness to be bound concerning this situation, and we loose the knowledge of God’s will and the creativity of the Holy Spirit to work in a mighty way.
In these times of hardship, we must find comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ. Rejoice, Valfyl, when you face difficulties and trials of every sort. Consider it nothing but joy, that is the assurance of your faith that you will face and that will test your endurance. Let endurance have its perfecting effect on you, so you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-5(WEB): " Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."
In every situation, never forget to pray and sing praises to our Lord Jesus Christ. Raise your voices to the Lord, Amen.
