Jonathan, we appreciate your honesty and the sincerity of your feelings. It's important to remember that God has a plan for your life, and His plan is always good. First, let's address the nature of your relationship with Savannah. The Bible teaches us that we should be equally yoked with believers.
First, while it's natural to have feelings of affection, it's crucial to handle them in a way that honors God. Pursue a godly marriage if it is in His plan for your lives.
We don't have your date of birth, so we cannot be sure if it is from the past or the future, but will pray in regard to the circumstances presented and the factual nature of life as being in 2023. God's plan for your lives may not match with a relationship now but it may develop into that in the future.
Regarding your feelings and actions, look at Savannah with godly intentions in your actions and deeds.
You feel that she can tell when you are nervous. But scripture tells us Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
It is wise to bring these feelings to God in prayer. Share your concerns and trust that He will guide your path. As for Savannah, respect her boundaries and feelings. True love is patient and kind, not selfish or demanding. It is encouraging to hear how much you want to make Savannah happy. Be open and honest, seeking Savannah's happiness with pure motivations and focusing on your walk with Christ first and above all. Let the Lord help you put your friendship first, and being yoked equally in faith before a relationship blossoms. It's good to also seek spiritual guidance in addition to our assistance. 1 Timothy 5:2 Treat older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. 1 Timothy 5:2.
You did not mention faith in Jesus Christ. It is important that you realize and know that access to the Father in Heaven is only granted in one way, that is through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible also says the name of Jesus is the only name in which we are saved. "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13). “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13. If you are not yet saved it is very simple, just accept that you are a sinner, believe Jesus died to pay the price for your sin, accept that Jesus Christ rose from the dead 3 days later and accept Jesus into your life as Lord. It is similar to A,B,C. You are also encouraged to reach out to spiritual guidance through a Christian mentor or spiritual adviser as well as fellowship with others who know and follow the Word of God. A good resource may be a Youth Group leader or someone involved in a Christ following local church or student organization. They may even be a way to help pray with your friend, Savannah, with a discipleship process in mind if she doesn't already have a relationship with Jesus.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you and intercede on behalf of Jonathan. Lord Jesus, You understand his feelings, emotions and the burden that is on his heart, and the effect on his emotional state that Savannah is having on Jonathan. Your Word tells us to cast our burdens on you for you care for us, and you alone know the beginning and end of the journey for Jonathan's life, and also the life of Savannah, Lord Jesus. You know them by their name. You know how to remove the weight from his shoulders that has taken the joy away from his eyes and saddened his countenance and count his tears in your bottle. Please protect Jonathan from allowing these feelings for Savannah to overpower him and impair his judgement as a young Christian man with a servant heart and a moral compass leading him on the narrow path you have made for him, Jesus. But most importantly, allow these feelings to glorify the Kingdom of Heaven, and reveal Your amazing love through them. Help them both have a Christian Believer friend, peer, and someone they can speak with honestly and who is knowledgeable in their Christian beliefs and principles of God's design for godly relationships, Father God. Continue to guide and support them both Lord, allow them to mature and grow through the prayers of intercession and submission, believing in your healing and restoring their hope as they surrender these emotions to Your Son. In the powerful and precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray.
