We understand your heartfelt concern for your son and his girlfriend, and we join you in prayer, seeking God's will for their lives. Let us first be reminded of God's desire for our relationships, as seen in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" It is crucial that both individuals in a relationship are equally committed to following Christ.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear son and his girlfriend to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that You bless this relationship if it is according to Your will. May they encourage one another in their faith and grow together in Your love, as described in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up."
However, if this relationship is not Your will and could lead to destruction or misfortune, we pray that You would graciously reveal this to them. Give them the strength and wisdom to part ways amicably, trusting in Your plan for their individual lives. Remind them that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Lord, we ask for Your grace and mercy upon them, that they may grow individually in their faith and pursue their true destinies according to Your will. May they find their hope and satisfaction in You alone, knowing that You have a perfect plan for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for them, trusting that God, in His infinite wisdom and love, knows what is best for their lives. Remind them to keep God at the center of their relationship and to pursue righteousness together. If they are not already doing so, encourage them to study God's Word together and to seek His will in all they do.
