We are truly sorry to hear about the pain and heartache you are experiencing, but we need to address several things according to biblical principles.
Firstly, we want to acknowledge the difficulty of your past. Being in an abusive marriage is not God's will, as God calls husbands to love their wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25 WEB. It is important to ensure your safety and well-being, and we are glad you were able to remove yourself from that harmful situation.
Now, regarding your current heartache, we want to remind you that God's design for relationships is clear. The bible doesnβt teach or condone the break-up of marriage Frivolous divorces are not supported. Many fall to statistics stating that Christians divorce just as much as nonbelievers.
God hates divorce Malachi 2:16 WEB, and while circumstances may lead to separation, remarriage should only be considered under biblical grounds of due to fornication or if the unbelieving spouse initiates the divorce 1 Corinthians 7:15 WEB.
However, we are a jealous God that desires you all to himself and driven to restore a right relationship through repentance. The pain you're experiencing can be an opportunity to draw closer to God, allowing Jesus to heal, mend and restore rather than finding another fallable man.. We need to walk in faith, Psalm 147:3 WEB says, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.. Jesus Himself endured the cross for the joy to have a finalized bride.
Furthermore, we must address the fact that you have been in the past married. This other relationship through the eyes of God is adultery as God only sees divorce when biblically allowed. We are strong advocates for waiting until remarriage for intimacy which requires a time of growth and right relationship with God now. We encourage you to seek God's will for your life and trust Him to bring the right godly spouse into your life if that is His plan.
It is also concerning that your request does not mention Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved Acts 4:12 WEB. We encourage you to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, confessing your sins and committing your life to Him 1 John 1:9 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in need of Your comfort and guidance after leaving her marriage. We pray for freedom from past wounds and heartaches, are now used by the enemy to lead astray. We ask that You heal her broken heart and help her wait patiently on You and your timing for a future godly marriage.
We pray for her spiritual growth considering her remarriage. Surround her with Your love and peace, and help her to trust in You completely. Guide her steps and direct her to values and actions on biblical principles concerning her relationships. We pray that You will give clear direction to her life and given the grace to be obedient to Your will even when it's difficult. We pray for a complete trust to you and your guidance rather than resting on her own understanding of future relationships. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
However, we strongly advise against pursuing the previous relationship. Focus on Jesus first before thinking of another relationship. Amen.
