We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your family are facing, and we are here to intercede and offer guidance. Let us stand together in seeking God's will for your brother and the rest of your family. It is good that you called upon the name of Jesus for help and that is the only way we can help.
Firstly, it is important to remember that God cares deeply for those who are suffering, including those with mental illnesses. We are reminded in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Your brother's actions may be a manifestation of his inner turmoil, and it is crucial to approach this situation with love and compassion.
Regarding the issue of your brother verbally insulting you and your mother, it is addressed in scripture. We are called to honor our parents, as stated in Exodus 20:12, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you." Additionally, in Ephesians 4:29, we are instructed not to use ill-speaking but only good speaking to edify others. Therefore, our prayer for him is that he would be convicted to change his actions and words.
However, it is also essential to set boundaries to protect yourself and your mother from further insults. This does not mean retaliating or holding a grudge, but rather. As it is written in Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." If direct communication with your brother is not fruitful, it may be wise to limit contact temporarily while continuing to pray for his well-being.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with mental illness. We ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and emotions, and we pray and believe for his complete recovery and restoration.
Lord, we also bring before You the pain and suffering that his actions have caused to his mother and sister. We ask for Your comfort and strength to envelop them during this difficult time. Help them and guide them to respond in love and wisdom and not in bitterness or anger to this trial.
We pray for conviction in our brother's heart in areas where he has not been honoring his mother and sister. We ask that he would now speak and act in a way that is edifying and not negative.
Lord, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom for our brother, mother, and sister, and the rest of our family. Help us to support him and one another. We ask for Your will to be done in our lives and believe that we are being perfected in the image of your Son. We pray for our brothers salvation. We ask for his to become a Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ and that he become a new man in Christ.
In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray for our brother's healing and that he would be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he may walk worthy of You, Lord, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work. And increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to the might of Your glory, for all endurance and patience with joy. Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. For You have delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of Your dear Son. In Jesus Christ, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers and for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We believe with faith in the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We trust that God is working in your brother's life and in your family.
