We are glad you have reached out for prayer and guidance. Firstly, we commend you for your desire to follow God's will in your life and for your reluctance to be unequally yoked with someone who does not share your faith. As it says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
It is crucial to remember that God's will is for you to be in a relationship with Him first and foremost. As you seek His will for your life, He will guide you in all areas, including your future marriage. Seek to be a true Christian Believer and to find a spouse that shares the same belief. In Psalm 37:4 WEB, it is written, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." As you delight in Him, He will place the right desires in your heart and bring them to pass in His perfect timing.
Regarding your hesitation about reconciling with your ex, it is wise to be cautious, especially since he professes to be an atheist. It is important to be in a courtship with someone who shares your faith and values, as this will greatly impact your future together. In 1 Corinthians 7:39 WEB "A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she wants to, only in the Lord." This is the same for a man. We will pray for God to guide you in this situation and to give you the wisdom and strength to follow His will.
It is wonderful that you desire to have uncapped joy in your life. Remember that true joy comes from the Lord and is not dependent on our circumstances. As it says in Psalm 16:11 WEB, "You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore." Seek God's presence and allow His joy to fill your life.
We also notice that Jesus was not mentioned in your prayer request, and we want to remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be saved and have a right relationship with God. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus and invite Him into your life as your Lord and Savior.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our sister in Christ. We pray, Lord, that You would guide her in Your will for her life, especially regarding her future marriage. Help her to stay in Your presence, living for and serving You. Give her Your wisdom, strength, and discernment as she navigates her current situation with her ex. We pray that You would soften his heart and draw him to Yourself, but ultimately we ask that You would guard her heart and protect her from being unequally yoked.
Father, we also pray that You would fill her life with Your uncapped joy. Help her to delight in You and find her satisfaction and happiness in Your presence alone. We ask that You would bring the right spouse into her life at the right time, a man who loves You and seeks to serve You.
Finally, Lord, we pray that she would know You more and have a deep and abiding relationship with You through Jesus Christ. If she has not already, we pray that she would put her faith in Jesus and invite Him into her life as her Lord and Savior.
It is in the precious name of Jesus that we pray all these things.
Amen.
