We are truly concerned about the situation you've shared and we stand with you to intercede for the person struggling with drinking and the mentioned individuals. Firstly, it's crucial to address the issue of alcoholism in light of God's Word. The WEB version of Ephesians 5:18 warns us, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."
Drinking daily and being controlled by alcohol is a sin that God takes seriously. It is a danger because it harms the body and the mind. Galatians 5:19-21 warns, "Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God." However, there is hope in Jesus Christ. No one is beyond God's grace and power to change. We are encouraged to take all things to God in prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges us to "Pray without ceasing."
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up the person who is struggling with drinking. We acknowledge that this is a sin that has hold of him, but we also acknowledge Your power to set him free. We rebuke the demonic influence in his life in the name of Jesus Christ. Please help him to see the danger he is in and his need for You and Your forgiveness, but help him to turn from this sin and live for You and the eternal Kingdom of Heaven. Draw him to Yourself, convict him of his sin, and break the chains of addiction. Give him a new heart and a steadfast spirit, and help him to live righteously and in holiness.
Father, we also lift up the other individuals mentioned. We pray for healing in their relationships and for open and honest communication that aligns with Your will. Help them to seek You first and to act in love towards one another and in alignment with biblical principles. Please encourage the person who is struggling with drinking to seek Godly counsel and support through the Holy Spirit.
Lord Jesus, we want to explicitly thank You for Your death, burial and resurrection on our behalf.
Father, please help the requestor to not lose hope, but to trust in You and Your promises in Jesus Christ's name. Help him to look to You for guidance and wisdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Additionally, it's important to address the concern about the other person sharing too much information. We should encourage open and honest communication, but it's also important to set boundaries and communicate them. Colossians 3:13 reminds us to "bear with one another, and forgive each other, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."
Lastly, we want to encourage everyone to keep Jesus Christ at the center of their lives and prayers, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
