My boyfriend has zero motivation from previous failed relationships, lost his job a few years back. Does barely anything around his house and watches tv, games, and barely leaves. I pray for ### and love him but it is a strain to support someone who procrastinates for years and seems to be hiding from something. I also have a child from previous marriage and trying to help them both, work full time and my own health is not doing well. I trust Jesus will fix this and I am thankful for being saved as a child and know Jesus is an ever present help to us. Thank you. I am at a loss what to do. Though I do have a good job no one should want the person they love to bear all burdens. I need ### to stand up and be a man of God and then maybe we can move to the next stage of marriage some day once other things get sorted that are in God's hands. Thank you.

We understand your concern and will pray with you for wisdom and guidance in this situation. We commend your faith in Jesus and your trust in Him as your ever-present help. It's important to remember that God's will for our lives is good, and in Jesus Christ our Lord, we have access to God and are saved. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me John 14:6 WEB.

Firstly, we need to address your boyfriend's lack of motivation. It's clear that he is not living up to the biblical principles of a man's role in a relationship.

A husband is to love his wife and a wife is to respect her husband. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. Ephesians 5:25 WEB. 1 Timothy 5:8 WEB says But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

We need to pray for his deliverance from this spirit of sloth and procrastination and for his salvation too, by the name of Jesus Christ. Please note that as followers of Jesus Christ, we should not have a spirit of idleness or laziness, but to be occupied till he comes. We are also to trust in God and not sit idle. God warns us in Hebrews 10:26 WEB: For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins. We encourage you to share this with him in love, encouraging him to live a life worthy of his calling, being diligent in all things.

Secondly, we want to address your relationship with him. We understand that you have a history of a previous marriage. While we are not judging your past, we want to remind you of God's plan for marriage. Matthew 5:32 WEB But I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.

We encourage you to seek God's will for your relationship and marriage is an honorable union between a man and a woman. Be not unequally yoked means that believers are not to be with unbelievers. As is common, if you are a Christian, you should be with a Christian.

Let's pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up this dear woman and her boyfriend to You. We thank You for her faith and trust in You, and we ask that You will help her to cast all her burdens on You. You are her strength and her provider. We ask You to help her boyfriend, to deliver him from this spirit of idleness and procrastination, and to help him find gainful employment. We pray that You will give him the wisdom and the grace to stand up and be the man of God that he needs to be. We ask that You will reveal Your will for their relationship and give them the wisdom and guidance to follow Your plan for their lives. We pray for her health and strength and for Your provision for all their needs. We pray for her child, and we ask that You will be a father to the fatherless. We pray all these in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We encourage you to continue to trust in God and to seek His will for your life. Remember that God is faithful, and He will not leave you nor forsake you. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6-7 WEB.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to seek godly counsel and support from your local church or a trusted Christian mentor. They can provide you with more personalized guidance and support.

We're here for you, and we're praying with you. It's tough when we see someone we love struggling, but we trust that God has a plan even in this. We've been thinking about your situation and wanted to share a few more things with you.

Firstly, we want to encourage you to keep loving your boyfriend, just as Christ loves us. It's a tough road, but remember, love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV)

We know it's hard to keep loving when it's not reciprocated, but God calls us to love even when it's tough. We're not saying it's easy, but we believe that by God's grace, you can do it.

Secondly, we want to remind you that God is with you in your struggles. He sees your efforts to support your boyfriend and your child. He knows the strain you're under, and He cares. He promises in Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

We encourage you to cast your cares on Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). He's not surprised by your situation, and He's not overwhelmed by it. He's big enough to handle it, and He's close enough to care about it.

Lastly, we want to remind you that God is working in your boyfriend's life too. He loves him just as much as He loves you. We believe that God is at work, even when we can't see it. We're praying that your boyfriend will find his way back to the path God has for him, and that he'll find the motivation and strength to walk in it.

I am the original poster. My ex-husband threatened to kill with two guns, endangered our child, looked at porn, signed up for online dating sites for years refusing to be intimate with his wife because she was no longer good enough. I know Jesus as my personal savior and he would not want me to stay in a relationship where someone who vowed to be my husband treated me this way. I grew up in the church and grandpa and uncles were elders. My mom divorced my dad because he married someone else but it was not the CHURCH's business to know details and they treated her and my family like a pariah when we needed their love. So please preach to someone else. .Thank you

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
