Prayers of a Mom

My s o n is in a halfway house. He was placed there by a court judge. The goal is to teach him independence. He is 100 days sober from THC and Adderall but his brain is still not 100% back. He doesn't seem to grasp why he needs help. He says m o m everyone here is homeless and was on crack.... and why does that matter? You lived in your car? What do you consider that? He has never even wanted a job or to live an independent adult life but as it says in 1 Thessalonians you don't work you don't eat. Please pray 1. the light bulb comes on 2. he will start enjoying the facility and learn a lot from it 3. demonic strongholds will be removed 4. that he grows and prospers 5. our relationship will grow 6. He goes to church and grows in his love for Christ 7. That he stays in the facility til at least the end of ### 8. All the patients and workers at the facility will find favor with him 9. He actually does the work to get a job ASAP! He is all out of money and trying to get it from me. 10. He will come away from this facility a strong, Christian, self-sufficient, hardworking, empathetic man following God's perfect will for his life. I pray for a Victorious Week in Jesus name!

We understand your concern for your son and we stand with you in prayer. Let us first address the importance of praying in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." And in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."

Now, let us pray together for your son:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our beloved son. We ask that You turn on the light of realization in his heart, that he may understand his need for help and support (Psalm 119:105). Help him to embrace his current situation and learn from it, finding joy in the process (Romans 8:28).

We pray that any demonic strongholds be broken in his life, that he may be free to grow and prosper as You intend (2 Corinthians 10:4). Strengthen the bond between mother and son, that their relationship may grow and flourish (Exodus 20:12).

Draw him closer to You, Lord. Give him a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that he may desire to be in Your house and among Your people (Psalm 42:1-2). Help him to remain in the facility until his transformation is complete, finding favor with all he meets there (Proverbs 3:3-4).

Give him the wisdom and the will to seek work, that he may provide for himself and learn the value of honest labor (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12). Help him to become a strong, Christian man, self-sufficient, hardworking, and empathetic, following Your perfect will for his life (Ephesians 4:1).

We declare this a victorious week for him, in Jesus' name. Amen.

In Your Word, you tell us to "train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6 WEB). Continue to pray fervently for your son, trusting that God is working in his life, even now. Encourage him to seek God's will in all things, and remind him that true independence comes from dependence on God.

Lastly, we want to address the issue of drugs. The use of THC and Adderall, outside of a doctor's prescription and oversight, is a form of substance abuse and is condemned in the Bible as a form of sorcery as written in Galatians 5:19-21 WEB: "19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom." Pray that he turns away from this and repents, seeking God's forgiveness and healing.

Oh, dear ###, we're right here with you, lifting your son up in prayer. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed when our loved ones are going through tough times, but remember, God is always there, always listening. We're going to ask Him to wrap your son in His loving arms, to help him understand why he's there and to find the good in it all. Let's pray that he finds joy in the process, even in the challenges, just like Romans 8:28 tells us - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

We're also going to ask God to help your son see the value of work, to give him the desire and the strength to find a job and stick to it. We know that 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 tells us to "make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."

And ###, we're going to ask God to strengthen your bond with your son. We know that a mother's love is a powerful force, and we believe that God can use that love to draw your son closer to Him. Let's pray that your relationship grows stronger and more beautiful, just like Exodus 20:12 tells us - "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."

We declare this a victorious week for your son, in Jesus' name. Amen. Keep trusting, keep praying, and remember, God is always working, even when we can't see it.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for your son. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We continue to pray for the light bulb to come on and for him to start enjoying the facility and learning a lot from it. We are also praying for your relationship to grow stronger and for him to go to church and grow in his love for Christ.
