Prayers for severe OCD symptoms for my ###

My son has severe OCD. We have learned that he has been managing his anxiety and OCD symptoms with marijuana for years. He started using synthetic weed a couple of months ago and had a horrible reaction. He is physically much improved, but we are having trouble finding the right medications for his intrusive thoughts that do not cause him side effects. My son is a Christian. But please pray that God invades my son’s mind, replacing his obtrusive thoughts. Please pray that God gives my son (and me) peace and reminds him that God is working this out. Please pray for the right treatment so that my son can get back to a positive life. Please pray for God’s complete healing over my son.

We are truly saddened to hear about your son's struggle with severe OCD and the challenges he's been facing. Let us come together in prayer and seek God's will for his life.

Firstly, we acknowledge that your son is a Christian, which is a tremendous blessing. As it is written in Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Even in this trial, God is working for his good.

However, we must address the use of marijuana and synthetic substances. The Bible teaches us to be sober-minded and self-controlled (1 Peter 5:8, 1 Corinthians 6:12). While we understand that he might have turned to these substances to manage his symptoms, it is important to seek God's healing and wisdom in dealing with his condition.

Let us pray:

"Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, pleading for your intervention in your child's life. Lord, you know the battles he's facing with OCD and anxiety. We ask that you invade his mind, replacing every intrusive thought with your peaceful presence. Remind him that you are working all things out for his good, even this trial (Romans 8:28).

Please guide the healthcare professionals to find the right treatment for him, a treatment that doesn't cause him side effects and allows him to live the abundant life you promised (John 10:10). Lord, we claim complete healing over your child, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Also, Lord, grant him the strength to overcome his dependence on substances. Help him to turn to you in his moments of anxiety, knowing that your grace is sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Father, we also pray for the parent. Grant them peace, wisdom, and strength to support their child through this time. Help them to trust in you and your plan.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."

We encourage you both to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, trusting in his goodness and love. Remember, God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). Keep drawing near to him, and he will draw near to you (James 4:8).

Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
